CM: Why AC Milan missed out on Sensi in the summer

This summer, Stefano Sensi nearly ended up at AC Milan as he decided to leave Sassuolo, ready to start an adventure with a bigger club. However, the move eventually broke down, and the midfielder joined Inter instead.

The Italian has been a success for the Nerazzurri under the management of Antonio Conte, scoring three goals and assisting an additional four in the league. Just six games in, therefore, he is already a fan favourite.

However, things could have been very different. As Calciomercato.com reports, Milan were very interested in bringing in Sensi this summer, starting negotiations with Sassuolo over a potential two-year loan with an option to buy.

The Neroverdi didn’t exactly appreciate this offer, the report continues, and then Inter decided to join the race. Rather than a two-year deal, they offered to take him on a season-long loan with an option to buy next summer, which was accepted.
