CM: Why Torino star Buongiorno prefers Milan over Napoli and Spurs move

By Isak Möller -

Alessandro Buongiorno is a wanted man on the mercato and AC Milan are among the interested clubs, looking to bolster their defence. Napoli have also joined the race but per a report, the Rossoneri have a clear advantage.

Buongiorno was linked to several clubs, including Milan, during the January transfer window but Torino managed to keep their big star. A wise decision, one could argue, as the price tag has only increased since given that the defender is one of the best in the league.

As reported by Daniele Longo for Calciomercato.com, Torino are expected to cash in this summer and a hefty price tag has already been set: €40m. Bayer Munich and Tottenham have both expressed their interest and domestically, Milan and Napoli are closely following the situation.

Napoli seem willing to get pretty close to the €40m demand with the use of various bonuses, per the report, but Buongiorno has his heart set on playing in the Champions League next season. The Partenopei would thus have to work very hard to convince the player.

Tottenham are still in the running for a UCL spot but trail Aston Villa by seven points, so they might not make it. Perhaps with technical counterparts, Milan could get involved but the price tag is indeed very high. Also because a big investment is expected in the No.9 role this summer.

  1. You can give Pobega + cash , he’s always injured and doesn’t have the level for Milan tbh, and he’s always been appreciated in Torino

    1. Sell Thiaw for 30 mil and take Buongiono for 30 mil + Pobega. If we can’t take Buongiorno we can go for Calafiori from Bologna. Bring back D.Maldini as homegrown player for UCL spot list to replace Pobega. Sell Kalulu for 15-20 mil and promote Jan Carlo Simic in his place. With money from Kalulu we can take another centre back like Brassier or Lacroix.
I would sell even Tomori to bring Scalvini but immediately our colleagues from this site will curse me with a lot of anger 😆😆

  2. I have to say, I don’t see a guy born and bread in Turin, with options galore, going to play for Napoli.

Power to Napoli if it happens but I just can’t see it

  3. Yeah right he wants to play for milan , wait and see what happens if inter comes knocking , he runs to them like a headless chicken. Not getting my hopes up until we officially get him 🤞
