CM: Why Conte is tempted by Milan job as Zlatan’s attempts continue

By Oliver Fisher -

Antonio Conte is apparently tempted by the idea of continuing his managerial career at AC Milan, with Zlatan Ibrahimovic one of his big endorsers.

According to Calciomercato.com, Gerry Cardinale will also listen to the opinion of his advisor Ibrahimovic when it comes to picking the head coach that will succeed Stefano Pioli, whenever that may be.

Although the former Swedish striker never played with him, nor was he ever coached by him, his respect for him towards Conte is no mystery and his CV speaks for itself with league titles aplenty in Italy and England.

In recent months Conte has made it clear that he would willingly return to Juventus but has already sensed that the doors are unlikely to reopen for him, because if Max Allegri’s leaves at the end of the season they would go for a younger coach like Thiago Motta.

Conte said that he would like to start again at a team that has recently won something important. In order of time, the last two Scudetto winners are Napoli and Milan.

The Rossoneri can count on Conte’s preference to coach them over Napoli, who already tried to hire him (without success) after the dismissal of Rudi Garcia and before the return of Walter Mazzarri.

Conte is fascinated by the idea of coaching Milan also to enter even further into the history of Italian football. Winning the Scudetto and the second star is a mission that excites him, also because so far no coach has managed to become champion with the three biggest clubs Serie A.

Furthermore, the Rossoneri have not yet won a league title with a coach who had already won one at another club. These are all challenges that stimulate Conte’s desire to return to coaching and winning.

  1. Conte is the best option at the moment. I don’t see anyone else as all the other candidates are below Pioli’s level of achievement and success.

Motta and Farioli have won anything to be in this discussion and they would be more of a risk than Conte.

  2. Yes because no one else has bothered calling him, do you see any rumors of Barca Liverpool Man Utd Bayern even being linked with him? LOL

  3. Milan has been playing in a 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3 formation for 6 years, both in the first team and in the youth teams, and the players who came are those who can play in that formation, all our attackers in that period are often in their career they played as the only point guard, they rarely had a partner, and Conte plays in a 3-5-2 formation becauseI’m a little afraid of his arrival, I would rather take a coach who plays the formation that Milan has used in recent years, such as Motta, De Zerbi, Klopp, Farioli, the system remains the same with some changes

  4. If Zlatan really is pushing for Conte, then you what they say… Game recognizes game.

in fact reports had Conte and his staff at a restaurant in Milan close the HQ in the last couple of days. Something looming on the horizon, folks…

If this is true then Cardinale is ballsy pulling the trigger on Conte. But Conte surely understands the state of the league and that Milan can’t spend like the English clubs.

So Conte 1. Is willing to accept a reasonable salary and 2. is ok with the players we have and won’t be asking for expensive reinforcements.
