Today was meant to be the day that Emerson Royal to AC Milan from Spurs was fully agreed, and yet the handshakes reportedly have not arrived.
As Calciomercato.com report, there was were new talks between the Milan directors and their counterparts at Tottenham via a conference call that – as per the plans – should have finally unblocked the operation so that a medical could be booked in and documents could start being exchanged.
However, the closing of the deal could now be postponed by a few days. Milan have put forward an offer of €15m fixed which is what Spurs wanted, but only €2m in bonuses and not the €3m being demanded.
Therefore, some details still need to be sorted out relating to the amounts and the structures of the overall figure between the fixed part and bonuses, a topic on the table during today’s conversations and evidently not completely resolved.
Despite this, Milan expect to unlock and close the deal by the end of this week, so as to allow Paulo Fonseca to start working with the Brazilian in view of the start of the new season at San Siro on August 17 against Torino.
The Brazilian full-back has pushed so hard for the move and agreed terms with Milan a while ago over a five-year deal with a salary of €3m net per season plus bonuses.

Terracciano had a shaky pre-season, maybe a loan or 2 might help him gain exp. Hence why we are going for RB, since also Florenzi is also injured.
Who would be good alternatives though?
I agree with that logic, he wasn’t great last season either – but Terracciano will be a free use of a registration spot, whereas Royal will need one. We have Calabria and Kalulu and Terracciano still, so it doesn’t seem necessary, but Royal is probably a step up on those alternatives – I’m hoping it’s like when Dalot came in.
Kalulu as RB excited me, but he was used only as CB. I think Fonseca never planned on to changed his role or he didn’t live up to expectations, just like Saelemakers as RB doesn’t.
Also why did Calabria stop being played as LB? if he accepts his limits like Henderson did and he comes in when there is trouble as defensive fullback, I can see his worth but currently most games he doesn’t really contribute anything and becomes a liability if caught off position against faster wingers which are unfortunately a lot.
Spend the money elsewhere! Just get Tiago Santos already.

Why are we spending almost 20M on Emerson – a subpar player and at a position we have options at?
I’m all for an upgrade over Calabria. I have said many many times that despite being a warrior – he should not be starting let alone our captain. He offers nothing going forward and in today’s game that is not good. He’s the perfect bench player and situational starter.
But the alternative is Emerson? Yikes. Why not play Kalulu as RB or even give some starts Jimenez?? Terracino looks terrible so he’s not in contention. But I’d rather us try a rotation of Kalulu/Jimenez/Calabria – and use the 17M to help us get Fofana – then sign Emerson and miss out on Fofana. Since we have cheap owners it’s obvious we can only get one of the two – so should be a no- brained. Use the $$ and seal the deal for Fofana – a vastly better player and in a position of higher need.
While the logic of that deal u described is a no-brainer so too are our management…no brianers
Don’t think getting another RB is necessary. I strongly believe getting a proper backup, maybe a challenger for the LB is more pressing.
However, if the feeling is that there’s a need for a RB, we definitely could get a better player that Royal, can’t we ? No disrespect

Since cardinale took over, fans always complain about players they sign, from Paulisic, chukwueze, Reinjders, Okafor, Musah, loftus etc but after a season or two most of these players performs beyond expectations and the same fans will start praising them, the criticism of Mike, leao, Dalot, Brahmin and even Theo was so much then but today we fans call them pillars of the team, exception of brahim and Dalot who are doing fine in there respective clubs, for me players need time and Italian fan need to give them time, if players like Calabria is non Italian, I believe he must have been receiving a lash from you guys but we all see how he’s been defended, The coach isn’t worth Milan but you all like the style of play just few weeks he took charge, he brushed up most of our players that are considered not good, now most of you who don’t want Fofana at the beginning for not been a proper DM now want the management to buy him at 35m someone who will be out of contract in few months, you guys should stop all the yelling on this site, allow the management do their job and hold them accountable if they fail at the end of the season, stop been childish here.
