CM: ‘Living in symbiosis’ – why Hernandez’s future at Milan could affect Leao

In the past few years, the crown of being the ‘best’ AC Milan player has often been between Rafael Leao and Theo Hernandez. However, with the future unclear about one half of Theao, what could it mean for the other half.

Rafael Leao has started the season in a manner which would not be expected of him. He is struggling, and his contributions show this, and unfortunately, glimpses are more common than full-length performances.

That, of course, does not mean that the page should be turned and Milan should be looking to part at the next possible opportunity. Instead, it should be a case of refinding the Serie A MVP and Scudetto winner, which is possible.

However, there is a belief that his future will be dependent on that of Theo’s. As Calciomercato.com writes, the duo have been ‘living in symbiosis’ for five years now. When things are good for one, it is likely mirrored for the other, and vice versa, but this also applies to the negatives.

With the Frenchman’s future at the club unclear, it is only fair to consider what Leao would be like, and the report states that the Rossoneri would be less competitive and ambitious. Because of this, the Portuguese winger is closely following the updates about Hernandez’s position.

Regardless of whether his friend stays or departs, Leao must re-find his best, and the Diavolo must help to find the solution.

  1. Milan should be a stage where Théo and Leao are key players for a competitive European team. Somehow they’re both expected to leave now. We all know that any money received from their sales would be poorly reinvested anyway. Can’t wait for the Paramount documentary about the downfall of Milan in an all-time record span.
