CM: Wieffer and Simic discussed as Milan-Feyenoord axis heats up

By Oliver Fisher -

The phone line between AC Milan and Feyenoord is heating up as we approach the summer transfer window, with two players above all the subject of discussions.

According to, Mats Wieffer is the new name for Milan. The Feyenoord defensive midfielder is being eyed to continue the great tradition of Dutch players to wear the Rossonero, while also filling what many perceive to be an obvious gap in the current squad.

He is a Netherlands international just like Tijjani Reijnders, with nine appearances and one goal to his name. The scouting department have followed him during the season and the reports are positive, because they believe he is a great ‘filter’ in front of the defence but also a good creater.

Milan have already started initial contacts with Wieffer’s agents to understand the feasibility of the operation. Feyenoord’s initial asking price is quite high at €25m, so the club will talk about it again later, probably after they have signed a striker for Paulo Fonseca.

The other player in question is Jan-Carlo Simic who is at a crossroads. He must decided whether to renew his contract – expiring in 2025 – with Milan or start thinking about a different future.

Negotiations with the club are at a standstill and in recent days Feyenoord have shown strong interest, so who knows if Milan’s move for Wieffer could lead to some kind of an exchange deal.

  1. Allowing Simic leave is a bad deal regardless of how it’s done. Kid is a prospect for the future. This is one of Pioli’s many goofs in Milan not playing this kid even when the chances came.

    1. What do you mean? , Pioli was the one who introduced Simic to the first team even though it was during the period all of our defenders were injured

    2. Who should Simic replace from our current defenders, you have Gabbia, Tomori, Kalulu and Thiaw. Is Simic supposed to be higher than any of these? If not, the only two options are U23 or be sold.

  2. Don’t want to lose Simic. But with a year left on his contract, if he doesn’t renew we gotta sell him. Can’t let a player like that go for free.

Hopefully he renews and we can get him some rotation in the first team

        1. His price tag is 20-22ml Lazio refused to pay 20ml for ricci Lazio offered 15ml +3 ml bonuses Torino accepted and then Lazio changes the strategy to go for other players

  3. I would keep simic and play him in first team and then renegotiate contract after we show him some trust. I think he played better than most of our regular CB:s. So why wouldn’t we keep him?

  4. Basically Primavera players weren’t ready for the jump into first team which is what the U23 is supposed to bridge over.
