CM: Zirkzee says yes to Milan after Zlatan’s pitch – ‘most important battle’ awaits

By Oliver Fisher -

Joshua Zirkzee is one of the most talked about strikers ahead of the summer transfer window and he has given his approval to the idea of joining AC Milan, a report claims.

According to Calciomercato.com, Zirkzee is admired by many clubs and every day there are contacts, meetings and phone calls between his agents, the Bologna management and these interested sides.

The Dutchman is the ‘master of his own destiny’ in the sense that there is a €40m release clause in his contract which is not only valid for Bayern Munich but also for any team. Given that several clubs can pay that without a worry, he can essentially pick where he goes.

Yes to Milan

In a recent meeting, Zlatan Ibrahimovic – Milan’s consultant and the Senior Advisor to the ownership group RedBird Capital – presented to Zirkzee the project of the club for next year.

The Swede made it known that he would play a leading role as the starting centre-forward and Zirkzee gave Ibra his approval to the idea of a move to Milan.

However, it is a green light that is not unequivocal given that among the many hypotheses that are on the table, i.e. the sheer number of clubs that are keen on him.

The Juventus option appeals too where he would reunite with Thiago Motta, but they already have Dusan Vlahovic, while the Premier League has prestige and riches.

What happens now

What is missing for Milan, however, is still a non-negligible detail. If to free him from Bologna it is enough to pay the Emilian club the €40m clause (technically all in a single payment to avoid negotiations, but there is still room to negotiate), there is another cost.

An economic agreement will have to be found as soon as possible also with his agent, Kia Joorabchian who is waiting for a small auction to break out regarding the commissions to be collected.

This is the most important battle today to secure Zirkzee’s signature as soon as possible, and previously the Rossoneri have set the stance of avoiding such auctions.

        1. I think they do once they get older and figure out what’s what. I mean Raiola kept bossing Ibra around for a while. Zee is young and Kia will try to get as much commission out of him while he still can.

  1. lol pay a “commission” so he says good words to Zirkzee about Milan. The only case where such “commissions” might be acceptable is when the transfer is free, i.e. the player’s contract with the other club has ended.

  2. Agents have been in this business for a very long time. It was obvious that the agent of him would ask noticeable amount of money even in December. Why Milan and these fans in the comments are pretending like surprised??

In December, it seems like Milan were sure that the player’s price is gonna be around 60 million, therefore, there’s no necessity to even check/write about agent commission fees.

Then they found out that release clause is the same for everyone and now they found new excuse – agent commission lol.

The Truth is that board doesn’t even sure whether they want Zirky or not… Still lol

They can easily contact Bologna, agent and Zirkzee and find out what is needed to get this player and make decision and start actions but they are waiting for July to start

Name one person who has been surprised. 🙂

    1. I don’t know that we van make it work with just one CF. 3 comps next season. Zee gets injured. I wouldn’t mind picking up Guirassy as insurance. Until hopefully Fonseca figures out how to use Okafor.

      1. Yeah, if the main striker gets injuried for, say, 3 months, it is questionable how much Milan can rely on Okafor/Jovic.
