The AC Milan management held a meeting without head coach Paulo Fonseca after last night’s 3-1 defeat against Liverpool at San Siro, according to a report.

As Calciomercato.com recall, the San Siro crowd booed the team off the field after a very disappointing performance, one that followed a 4-0 win over Venezia which proved to be just a false dawn.

Fonseca’s position as the head coach is naturally under scrutiny after a disastrous start to the season and it is causing discussions among the management. Meanwhile, Stefano Pioli is heading for Al-Nassr which changes things economically.

With Pioli’s salary off the books, there would be a big saving that could provide the budget to go and change coach again, with the names of Massimiliano Allegri and Maurizio Sarri ‘very popular with the fans’ as per the report.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic – who defined himself on TV before the game as ‘the boss who commands’ – will be called to make a decision along with Geoffrey Moncada and the CEO Giorgio Furlani. They chose not to leave with the team after the game.

Not only that, but the trio left San Siro about 35 minutes after midnight and that is something that is causing much discussion, as it was clearly quite a long and delicate de-brief after they saw the Rossoneri jeered off.

The next match will in fact be the derby and, although an immediate change in manager seems unlikely before that game, the match against Nerazzurri will probably be the last chance for Fonseca to show that he can lead the team moving forward.
