CM.it: Liverpool want Milan star as Salah’s heir – price has rocketed since Chelsea sale

Liverpool are looking around for potential Mo Salah replacements and a report has claimed that AC Milan’s Christian Pulisic has left them impressed.

There is no doubting that Salah has established himself as a modern Liverpool great since his move from Roma, amassing 215 goals and 93 assists in 356 games for them across all competitions, leading them to a Champions League and a Premier League title.

However, as Calciomercato.it point out, he is 32 years of age now and has less than one year left on his deal which has forced their management too think about the future. Real Madrid’s Rodrygo has been mentioned, but he has a €1bn release clause and thus it will be a difficult pursuit.

The Reds could go back to Italy to find the heir to the man they signed from Serie A as Pulisic is a name that interests them. After a debut season with over 30 goal contributions, the USA winger has four goals and two assists in his first six games, scoring against Liverpool and Inter last week.

The Rossoneri got a bargain by snatching him from Chelsea for just €20m and today he is considered one of the leaders of Paulo Fonseca’s team, which is why his price has at least doubled from the amount paid last summer.

  1. Liverpool want puli. City want Reijnders. And if Leao plays like we want him too, he’ll get snatched too.

I hope we hold on to the best players we have.

    1. Reijnders to City is hardly true. In mildfield they want to find the successor of de Bruyne, who certainly can’t be Reijnders due to vast differences in characteristics and quality. It might be either Musiala or Xavi Simons.

    2. Let’s see how true to their word RedTurd are, or will they cash in. Actions will tell. I for one think we know where this is going.

This is of course all circumstantial at the moment, but if they did sell Pulisic, would that be enough for Redbird fans? Would that be the like crossed? Heat would be enough?

      1. “RedTurd” Oh my god, that’s so funny… I guess, if you are ten years old.

Please enlighten us on “where this is going.” You’ve got it all figured out. But aren’t you one of the guys that were screaming that the season was a catastrophe and the Scudetto was lost after 3 games this season? Now we can go to the top of the table with a win today. Please some more of that wisdom. Such drama queens on here. Just waiting for any BS, speculative article to come in and spread more negativity. There is zero chance of this happening, but by all means, get all wound up over it.

      1. So is Pulisic if we are being honest, Salah is one of the all time Prem greats. They certainly aren’t going to go out and get a like for like so whoever it is will be a lesser player than Salah. Personally I think they’ll recruit from in the prem, Bowen perhaps.

  2. Pulisic is currently Milan’s best player and most complete forward. He is intelligent, versatile, and has phenomenal work rate annd the nicest of attitudes, Any top club and top coach would be willing to have him. His goal against Inter will likely rank as one of the top 3 golazos of the season.

So regardless of this article maybe being click bait and the usual rumor, it is inevitable that sooner or later Puli will trigger interest from big and rich clubs.

It would be a disaster if our management sold Puli. I hope they never entertain this horrible blunder and Puli stays several seasons with us. I’m reassured by Puli obviously being very happy at Milan, the club that relaunched his career. With Milan, he went from a Chelsea reject to one of the best players currently active in Europe.

Forza Puli, grande Puli! Remain a Rossonero, please! You’re my favorite Milan player! The fan base loves you so please don’t accept any offers from other clubs!

    1. A lot of Chelsea rejects are doing very, very well elsewhere. Pulisic was fortunate to get out of that dumpster fire when he did. That’s the thanks he got after helping them win a Champions League title. Let’s hope he can get another one for Milan.

  3. One reassuring factor is that even if our management got tempted by the capital gain of selling Puli for over 3 times what we paid for him (such a bargain; our best signing in recent memory), there is the issue of Puli being American and the most beloved and popular soccer player in the United States; he’s “Captain America” by nickname and the actual captain of the US Men’s National Team.

Annnnd, our owner is American and certainly appreciates the boost in merchandising sales and the number of new Milan fans Puli’s presence has brought in the USA.

Gerry even bought a share of Paramount+ and lobbied for the renewal of Paramount+’s deal with Serie A; CBS for the first time broadcast a Milan Serie A game due to the increasing interest for Milan by American soccer fans, since Puli joined us.

Gerry will likely hesitate in authorizing the sale of his best asset in terms of ensuring Milan’s popularity in America which does generate good money year after year.

I attended the pre-season game Milan v ManCity in New York City and the number of spectators who were wearing Milan jerseys with Puli’s name and number was crazy!

Will Cardinale ever want to lose that? I think not, thankfully. Even great offers by other clubs may be met with a harsh “he’s not for sale” as dictate by the big boss.

  4. Pulisic is hugely important to the success of this team. He has that winning mentality. I think Milan has a better chance of keeping Pulisic than other big players (Theo, Leao, Maignan). He was on a big contract at Chelsea from age 20/21, which filled his bank account but didn’t fill his heart after Chelsea repeatedly gave him the short end. He literally put that team on his back and dragged them into Champion’s League qualification during project restart, then had a devastating hamstring injury and the fan base turned on him whenever he played poorly.

    So this means two things:
    1. He’s already made plenty of money and at age 26 is set for life. He took a significant pay cut to come to Milan, which was totally the right move for him and Milan, but he was only in position to do that because he already had a big pile of money in the bank.
    2. He’s seen the difference between a situation where he’s beloved and he’s able to find joy and one where he’s miserable and this leads to his play declining. The difference between confident Pulisic and non-confident Pulisic is the difference between a below average attacker and a world class attacker.

So give him a raise and an extension at some point soon and he’ll be happy to stay, maybe for the entirety of his prime.

I think the only teams that would truly turn his head at this point are Real Madrid and maybe Barca – those are the two biggest clubs in the world from his childhood. But I can’t see that happening any time soon, so I think Milan can enjoy his play for his full prime.

  5. Management will 100% hold onto captain america until the FIFA ⚽️ WC 2026

After that, and the massive marketing in their home country, I could see them cashing in a massive bid if he is one of the billboard stars at that tournament.

  6. I don’t agree, Puli seems to enjoy his game more here moreover he also has leverage and importance being an American and Cardinale would want him for his American marketing campaign, I believe even if it meant raising his salary during renewal

  7. The usual Rafa haters are sneaking into a Puli thread to berate Rafa, after berating me for defending Rafa in a Rafa thread. Go figure. Hypocrites.

Matterazzi has recently said that he hopes Milan will sell Rafa; Inter will say thanks.

These trolls advocating for Rafa to be sold can’t be real Milan fans.

    1. Stfu already. Nobody is bothering you. Nobody said anything to you about your precious leao. Mind you own fúcking business.
Don’t like comments about rafa? Don’t fûcking read them.

  8. From a technical point of view, Pulisic is no match for Salah. But Pulisic has learnt to use tactical intelligence to hide much of his relative technical weakness. So there might be some truth in this claim, though if I were Liverpool I would prefer someone else to replace Salah.

    1. Really?
This boy like sounding like knowledge resolves only where he’s. Firstly, it was you acting like assistant Pep, now you’re Liverpool’s scout.

      1. You got a bit furious again, right? Lautaro too is technically limited, especially against fast playing teams he finds it hard to control the ball let alone score.

  9. Leao is worth 90 million on transfermarket while pulisic is worth 40 million. Should be the other way round.
Leao can only play one position and one play. Pulisic could probably play in defense if we needed him too lol.

  10. I guess we should on Puli, definitely. In any case, I think that on his own initiative he would certainly like to stay, as his style of playing suits Serie A much more than the Premier League. The guy is already an idol here, and perhaps the squad best player, and with a little more ambition from the board, he will get silverware with us.

    1. No chance. He’s happy here. He’s confident, he knows the position is his and he is going to start regularly. Doesn’t need to go back to another Chelsea situation.
