CM.it: Milan have Juventus star Chiesa in mind if big sale materialises

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are interested in exploring a deal for Juventus winger Federico Chiesa in the event that Rafael Leao were to be sold this summer, a journalist has claimed.

The Calciomercato.it journalist Riccardo Meloni spoke to TV Play on the rumours regarding the future of Chiesa, with Milan among the teams interested in him amid struggles for Juve to get a renewal done.

“Roma are interested in Chiesa; Milan is also interested, but only if Leao leaves. There will be weeks of reflection,” he said (via TuttoJuve).

“The absolute priority for Chiesa, in any case, is Juventus: in the next few weeks there will be a meeting with Giuntoli for the renewal.”

While there is nothing too concrete on the Leao exit front, O Jogo in Portugal reported yesterday that he is the subject of interest from Al-Hilal.

The suggestion is that the Saudi Arabian side are not phased by the €175m release clause that Leao has in his contract, which no European club is expected to get close to this summer given the up and down season that the forward endured.

Al Hilal would be able to offer Leao a far greater salary than what he receives in Milan and they think he can help them win the expanded Club World Cup.

  1. Think we can do better. Honestly puli left and chuku right is better than injury prone chiesa left puli right

    1. Agreed. Before the injuries I would have said yes to Chiesa.
      There are plenty of options.
A name that comes to mind from serie A is Lauirente from Sassuolo. 25 years old.
      This season in serie A 5g, 6a.
      Last season 7g, 6 a.
With better players around him than he has at Sassuolo, he will give Milan double digit production in goals and assists.

      1. I like Lauirente. I wouldn’t mind him on our left flank. He’s underrated and surrounded by poor players at Sassuolo. He could’ve had for a bargain price.

But where does that leave Okafor?

    2. 💯 Chiesa is not the same player after that injury. He’s no longer a winger. He needs to find a new role.

  2. If we were dumb enough to sell leao or if they use his buy out option then it should be either lookman or kvara. 175m to spend it shouldn’t be any problem

  3. Oh! Lord my God. May AC Milan management and media not terminate “us fans” with speculations. I said it here before that serious clubs are either closing deals with “even coaches”, let alone players for next season, meanwhile Milan fans are left with speculations and their thoughts.
Someone said I was attacking the clubs.

  4. If leao is sold, I would prefer we spend the money on Zirkzee as SC, with Zaniolo on loan from Galatasaray as Leao’s replacement at RAM, and Pulisic moving to LAM in a 4321. Okafor and Chukwueze as solid option if there is need for wing play. Either Jovic, Colombo or ?Pinamonti, and Camarda offer backup to Zirkzee.

The rest of the money can be spent on a regista (Ricci is my 1st preference), an attacking RB to rotate with Calabria / Terracciano (Vanderson / Tiago Santos), Theo’s backup (Dorgu), and a centreback (Scalvini, Buongiorno or Calafiori) if Tomori or Thiaw is sold.
