Colombian journalist claims Everton star James Rodriguez has been offered to Milan

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have been offered the chance to sign Everton playmaker James Rodriguez, according to the latest from one journalist.

After a long and protracted saga, Hakan Calhanoglu decided to bid farewell to Milan fans in the most spiteful of ways: signing with cross-town rivals Inter. Multiple sources reported that Calhanoglu asked for €5m net per season throughout the negotiations and was offered €4m per year by Paolo Maldini, with the management firmly believing that they had made the best offer for the 27-year-old.

Now, the hunt for his replacement is underway. According to Colombian journalist Diego Rueda, the Rossoneri have been offered the chance to sign James Rodriguez from Everton, presumably by his agent Jorge Mendes who the club met with last week.

The 29-year-old made 23 league appearances for the Toffees last season amassing 6 goals and 4 assists and could move on after his mentor Carlo Ancelotti left to go back to Real Madrid.

  1. james rodriguez might have been offered to us but he is valued at 28 mil on transfermarkt and his contract running untill 2022 that the club has an option to extend for a further year. Combine that with the fact that he will turn 30 in early july and propably also holds a pretty high salary i have a hard time believing that milan would aquirre him at this point of his career.

    1. James Rodriguez may take a pay cut to join Milan, I think the move would be great for both parties as his style of play would suit Serie A, and he’d be able to play in his natural #10 role, Milan would have lots of creativity to feed Zlatan

      1. Im not doubting his talent im doubting milans willingness to pay that much for a soon to be 30 year old player when they for 20-30 mil can get a younger player with potential increase of value whereas rodriguez valuation will only go one way and that is downwards, So my point is not down to him not beiing a technical gifted player but obviously if everton decided to release him on a free transfer then milan might step in but i simply can see us spending 20-30 mil on him and that is without including mendes agent fee.

  2. Another thing that worries me is that he is quite injury prone and sometimes a tad inconsistent too, but yeah I agree, his playstyle would suit Serie A a lot.

  3. Just negotiate a lesser transfer fee and it will be a great signing, then sign Diaz as backup, that way we will never remember we let Hakan leave.

James is a better player than Hakan (just needs to stay out of injury) and I also know Diaz is way potentially better than Hakan.

And please, we cannot have youngsters in every position on the field, we are not a youth team.
We definitely need a blend of experience, and if there’s a position that dearly demands experience and instant performance, it’s in our AM position.

We all know, it’s just a matter of time, a CF and RW will definitely come in, so with a capable AM like James, things can only get better for our attacking department.

    Get this done Paolo!

  4. Get it done…Whether they like it or not this our season,,,,,,Hence the 2 unserious milanistas has left…Gigo / Hakan.
