Speaking during his official unveiling as an Empoli player (via Radio Rossonera), the striker showed how determined he is to succeed whilst in Tuscany.

Colombo has been on loan away from Milan on multiple occasions, and he impressed whilst he was at Lecce during the 2022/23 season. He was less impressive at Monza and they opted not to sign him on a permanent deal.

He is now at Empoli who narrowly avoided relegation to Serie B last season and they have a right to make the deal permanent at the end of the season.

It seems that Colombo wants to prove a point whilst at Empoli, saying: “My desire for revenge is very high. Last season did not end in the best of ways and this can clearly be an opportunity for me. To show that I can give so much to this Empoli team.”

Colombo did actually join Milan on their US tour briefly and he managed to score two goals against Manchester City which he hopes will be an omen for the new campaign with Empoli. He was close to signing for Empoli when he made the call to travel to America with the rest of the team.

“It was a short experience in the USA. I had already given my word to Empoli, but I managed to have a great time,” he said.

Talking about his fitness upon arriving at Empoli, Colombo said: “I’ve always trained, so I’d say I’m fine. At AC Milan you certainly work in a slightly different way and maybe I need a couple of weeks to get into the rhythm. I think the moment of consecration has arrived and I’m looking for the right opportunity to take off.”
