When Milan signed Morata last summer, there was a lot of hope that he could be a big player for the Rossoneri. Off the back of a European Championship win with Spain, there was confidence that he could fill an Olivier Giroud-sized gap.

Instead, he never took off at San Siro, and within six months he was loaned to Galatasaray. Though, just like with the Diavolo, he did not stay for long. In fact, he began missing training with the Turkish giants refusing to part with him easily.
Eventually a deal was finalised, though, and the Spaniard headed back to Italy where Como were waiting.
Morata’s sacrifice
Today, Mirwan Suwarso, the club’s president, spoke to Corrirere dello Sport about the move and the sacrifice which Morata made to play for Cesc Fabregas, as Calciomercato.com report.
“Alvaro [Morata] really likes Cesc Fabregas’s style of play. He cut his salary by more than half just to come here. I can assure you that qualifying for the European Cups is not one of the objectives of our business plan. We certainly can’t chase sporting results at all costs, risking bankruptcy.”
