Christian Comotto has caught the eye with his performances in preseason for AC Milan, but he could have been turning out for rivals Inter.

Comotto got his name on the scoresheet during the 9-0 hammering of Perth Glory on Thursday, and it was no regular goal. The midfielder showed smart footwork to win a penalty and then was allowed to take it, converting with an audacious panenka.

No to Inter

As Corriere dello Sport write this morning, in yesterday’s friendly against Perth the teenager stole the show. There is an interesting behind-the-scenes story about the 2008-born midfielder, though.

Having been part of Milan’s youth academy, he shared a path with his peer Francesco Camarda, who was a big part of the reason that he even ended up wearing the red and black shirt.

It was his friendship with the striker – currently on loan at Lecce – that convinced him to choose Milan over Inter, when Comotto was on the verge of reaching an agreement with the Nerazzurri.

Comotto actually played for Perugia first, then spent a year at Inter’s academy, before going for Fiorentina. He was there from 2016 onwards and in 2020 he joined Milan, so it is at that time that the paper are likely referring to. Soon, he could leave on loan for Spezia.
