Sergio Conceicao’s time at AC Milan was not massively memorable, at least for the right reasons, even if he did lift a trophy.
When he arrived in Milano, there was plenty of excitement about the future under Conceicao, a manager that Milan had previously considered heavily. However, things quickly fizzled out. Whilst he won the Supercoppa Italiana, he stumbled after that.

Results quickly returned to being underwhelming and the Portuguese succumbed to the pressure from the media. As a result, all parties opted for a split at the end of the season and Massimiliano Allegri replaced him.
However, 12 months on, the club are no better off and find themselves looking for a new manager, again.
Conceicao’s interview
There has been plenty said about Conceicao’s time with the Rossoneri since he departed and this will remain to be the case for a while, one would imagine.
Now, he has added to the conversation, even boasting that he had a better record than Allegri, as Calciomercato.com relays from an interview with TVI/CNN Portugal.
How was your experience at Milan? Winning the Super Cup was great, but then things didn’t end so well…
“No, I’d say it was, and with what’s happened, that is, in this recent past, it’s been seen that maybe, maybe not, I’m sure, the six months I spent at Milan were quite interesting. My time at Milan was positive.”
Are things worse for Milan now?
“Now things are worse, the structure, that is, the managers, have left , the coach, who is an experienced coach, a coach with a complete CV, already champion of Italy…”
Cheerful…
“Allegri was also sacked, he managed to get fewer points than us. Since I arrived in Milan, my coaching staff – and I’m not talking about me, but the coaching staff, which is very capable and very dedicated.
“We managed to reach the Coppa Italia final, beating Roma, or rather, beating a Roma side that perhaps played the second-best first half in Roma’s history under Ranieri, a very interesting side, with a very strong team.
“And we beat the Champions League finalist, Inter, where we played a brilliant match, winning 3-0 and reaching the final against Bologna, a final in Rome, where we lost 1-0 to Bologna. Anyway, a final is a final, some say you have to get there, I say you have to win.
“We didn’t win, we won the Super Cup, in the meantime, when I arrived in Saudi Arabia, in Riyadh.”
This is just petty ridiculousness. Conceicao was put in a bad position, sure, but he knew what he was doing by singing the contract. The team still came 8th and lost a final against frickin’ Bologna. Nothing to brag about, dude, good luck achieving half the success Allegri has wherever you go.
