CM: Milan’s patience ‘no longer existent’ – Conceicao could be sacked without win vs. Lecce

AC Milan need three points against Lecce this evening, otherwise it could well be the end of the road for Sergio Conceicao after just over two months.

As Calciomercato.com write, there is no longer any margin for error: Milan must win at the Stadio Via del Mare to begin climbing the table. Being in ninth place is a disastrous outcome given the high ambitions and expectations for the management.

Conceicao is at risk of losing his job without a win to calm things down, and not only because of the poor results in the league and the Champions League, because of what happened this week with the spokesperson case that shook the environment.

Beyond the usual denials, Thursday was absolutely surreal. Statements from Conceicao’s spokesperson (who later resigned from his role) spread the alleged thoughts of the former Porto coach on everything that is surrounding him at Milan.

What it means is that the same patience shown after Lazio defeat is ‘no longer existent’, as what has happened in recent days has been perceived as damage to the club’s image that has left a bitter taste in the mouth.

So, in the event of a defeat in Lecce – or failure to win due to a bad performance – the situation would risk spiralling out of control and could bring Conceicao’s adventure on the Milan bench to an end. Nothing can be ruled out, in a situation that must remain open to every possible hypothesis.

  1. Das ist doch Quatsch… Was soll das bringen.. Die wechseln öfter den Trainer als Berlusconi die Wochenende Damen.

    1. You’re right; Conceicao, like Fonseca before him, is being made the fall guy for the ineptitude of those further up the chain of command at ACM. The rot starts at the top with the owner.

Conceicao is a good coach. For his sake, I hope the team wins at Lecce today.

  2. We’re on the longest losing streak in all of Serie A right now. We’re the only team in the whole league with 0 points in the last three matches.

  3. Honestly, Conceição should have been gone since the Lazio game. Tassotti is already waiting to step in.

I believe Conceição has already loss the dressing room. You can’t bench Leao and Pulisic and play Joao Felix.

  4. Conceicao… No Conceicao… Doesn’t really matter anymore, does it? Pretty sure everyone at the club has given up on the season.

You can tell it by looking at the players. It’s all over their faces. No one is behind Sergio, who’s had his bags packed likely the entire time.

Feels like the entire club is just wanting for summer to get here for the reboot and to see where the dust settles when they take the Wrecking Ball to the club.

  5. It’s a dumb idea sacking a coach now. What your team needs is less pressure to play well. But I must admit, Concecaio being too tense is not helping.
