Conceicao reveals the key message he gave Milan players before Inter win

Despite all signs pointing towards his departure, Sergio Conceicao is fighting for the best with his AC Milan squad, and a 3-0 win against Inter is only the latest example.

There is something so ironic about Milan’s season. A year where disappointment has been the main emotion is also the year where the club could win a domestic double, whilst ending a 20-year drought in the Coppa Italia.

Football makes zero sense sometimes, however, the Rossoneri are profiting from it, so there cannot be any complaints.

Now, a game against Empoli or Bologna will await, and the club cannot focus on who they play, but rather on themselves. After all, they have proven that they can beat anyone when they work together to their best selves.

Speaking after the game, Conceicao explained an element of regret from the season, whilst also telling journalists what he told the squad before kick-off, and Milan News have transcribed his words.

Satisfaction or regrets?

“What we showed today, we didn’t manage to prove several times in the league. If we had been humble, with this attitude, I’m not saying it would have been a walk in the park in the league, but we would have done something different.

“I’m very happy for the boys. Inter are a very strong team, I have a lot of respect for them, they deserve the Champions League semi-final.”

Why today’s attitude and not the other games?

“Sometimes the episodes turn in our favour, other times not. Like Atalanta, who didn’t get past the halfway line and then scored on our mistake. We have to find this consistency because we have players of technical quality, then you have to add something else in football.”

How are you?

“I’m fine now. A bit more relaxed… I bring the problems home. We have to find this consistency in this final part of the season. I told the players [before the game]: every action we have, we have to be focused at all times.”

What do you say to the fans?

“I want to hug all the players. I thank the fans who have been wonderful. They have so much patience with the team. It’s mainly for them this final.”

  1. We played well and little lucky, Inter missed few golden opportunities in the first half. Don’t think this changes anything about Conceicao, poor tactical setup, need to play high defensive line with the MFs we have.

    1. Funny you ,
Appreciate those players and the coach he was emplied half season and you want miracle .Let be truthful to ourselves do you expect him to do magic with the players in half season .if been given morr time he will redicover the winning mentality we need and with this new formation i think they will go places
      Thanks

  2. For me it’s more about the players not giving their all most of the season. Yesterday even Leo was tackling and he did have more fight even though he wasn’t great up front. Our players didn’t play consistent football. Same players can win big or lose big. The only question is why to wait too long before switching to 3-4-3

  3. Coach got Leao to DEFEND for 80 minutes. How big is that?
Pioli couldn’t do it, Fonseca couldn’t get him to do it.
He also had the balls to change up the formation after finally getting a chance to assess what players he had and their characteristics. Pioli lived and died by his 4231, Fonseca was pretty much the same. Conceicao, a 442 playing coach, decided to tweak the team and change it up.

Zero pre-season, no time to train the players he inherited from Fonseca due to playing a game every 3 days from Jan to March (also down to player mistakes and stupidity). If he manages to earn 2 trophies in such a chaotic mess of a season, then he’s proved his worth.

Even Pioli was sucking balls and was on the verge of getting sacked until he had that 2 month COVID break to sort things out. 2 whole months, even after his 5-0 drubbing to Atalanta.

If Conceicao wins the Coppa Italia, let him stay.
Only dumb fans would not be able to see his value and what he brings to the table.

The only coaches I would take over him are Ancelotti, Guardiola, Xabi Alonso or Klopp. If you can’t bring in any of these four, then don’t bother changing the coach.
