Sergio Conceicao’s press conference was, once again, rather interesting, and the AC Milan head coach left things with a bombshell.
The final question of a press conference is normally what everyone walks out remembering, after all, it is the last statement made. When that question is ‘juicy’, so to speak, then that recall period is longer, and Conceicao has delivered today.
Last up today was a question about him, and his journey with Milan – a great question in itself – and this is where the Portuguese pulled the pin and dropped his grenade.
How are you? Are you more nervous? What do you think about the journey?
“I’ll talk about these things at the end of the season. About everything that the six months of work have been, about what we did well and what we didn’t do well.”
So, the rumours open up about what that means, and Calciomercato.com has taken a guess at what it could mean.
Daniele Longo puts it quite simply, it sounds like a threat to ‘open Pandora’s box’. Most likely, it will be a repetition of the words stated by his former spokesperson a few months ago, which he denied having said a few months ago, but this is the strongest suspicion right now.
We already know that there is a prickly side to him, as was proved after the game on Sunday, so it could be box office for outsiders, but there is a very strong chance that the Diavolo will want him to be tight-lipped.
It’s not Conceicao’s fault that AC Milan is a mess. The organization has deeper problems than the coach. The clubs problems are structural from the management all the way down. AC Milan has been poorly managed… it’s a mess and getting a different coach will be a band-aid to cover up the REAL problems of the club.
Not one coach started a training camp or season, with 3 weeks and matches to prepare with a full squad, or at least it’s second starting 11 since Redbird has been in place. We made fools of ourselves in the market every summer. They set every coach up for complete failure.
We should have taken more time to sell the team to an adequate ownership group instead of playing wait and see with coaches, directors etc. Elliot had to keep the club that summer, agree a sale in January, or March, to anyone but Redbird, then complete the transition by Mid April or May, with parameters, plans for the next season in place to hit the ground running right away. That would have given Maldini, Massara and Pioli a proper opportunity to audition themselve properly for an entire season with new owners. Then if needed be, the new group could transition after should anything be unsatisfactory.
We would have been better just keeping the team we had, retaining our free agents, then make additions the next summer in the absolute worst case.
It’s clearly Coaches fault many of his choice is I’m going to be mean to my players play them not play them like a macho guy he is. Then the players aren’t serious because they isn’t any serious replacement for them so they don’t care how they play because they know they aren’t going to be on the bench. At Last Management Fault because they are clearly better options to persue but they completely ignore them and go and get the least amount of money pressure and with the most chance to agree deal even if the player hasn’t play good for a while this management think he will return to his best form . And when they don’t work they aren’t satisfied with least amount of deal other clubs are making for a bad player they bought they want closer of what they paid which is bad management. And lastly you can’t say as a management be happy we are going to EU competitions to get the ticket we need to put up a fight every season we need better players reinforcements better project.
Tare only brought SMS and Immobile he isn’t good SD . Maldini Massara brought you Theo Maignan Leao Tonali Bennacer Kessie Brahim Tomori Thiaw De Ketelaere persue Ibra persue Giroud Kalulu they did better job than the one who had more experience . You need to brought Maldini back and Massara put Massara as scouter and Maldini be sidekick to someone with exp someone from RB teams or Monaco or Brighton or D’Amico and for the coach you need to get Conte or Italiano or De Zerbi or Hutter or Gasperini if can’t take them go for Bundesliga coach like Toppmoller
You’re contradicting yourself all through. First Coaches’ fault, then players are unserious, then the management is at fault….
I hope you won’t end up blaming the fans as well 😜
What’s he gonna say we don’t already know?
*Diva’s on the team with diva attitudes.
*No leaders on the locker room.
*Psychologically weak team that was inherited from Pioli
*Poorly assembled team with pieces that don’t fit well.
*Incompetent management at every level.
Yea. We get it.
How does a team with the first three characteristics you’ve mentioned finish 2nd in Serie A?
How does it finish in the top 4 4/4 seasons including a Scudetto and in the top 2 in 3/4 of those seasons?
The management was merely doing what many of the ‘fans’ wanted.
You all wanted to get rid of Pioli and players like Calabria and now the team is 9th.
Because the competition was equally weak. Napoli a mess, Lazio a mess, Atalanta didn’t get going until midseason, Roma a mess, fiorentina a mess. This year all but Roma have improved significantly.
“How does a team with the first three characteristics you’ve mentioned finish 2nd in Serie A?”
There were leaders such as Kjaer & Giroud to keep the divas in control. Now there’s none.
My top choice is get Pioli back. If not then I hope they keep Conceicao. It’s time to stop blaming coaches and admit fault.
Things have to change so journalist can sell articles. Football has nothing to do with Sports anymore.
So true.
“Football has nothing to do with Sports anymore.”
Incorrect.
I think you’ve taken this personally, but societally it’s true.
My kids (a teenager and nearly a teenager – both very intelligent and well balanced young men with realistic ambitions) see football through the lens of FC25 and YouTube Shorts. They drift away from live games of the team they actually support (Man City) if they’re not absolute classics. ALL their friends are the same.
RedBird are gearing up for quick-fix ‘sports entertainment’ style football for one reason and one reason alone…because it’s coming your way in about one more generations time.
For the players who still play football, it’s still sports. Sure, they get A LOT more salary than before but at the end of the day, they still do have to work their a55es off to get to where they are and keep on working to stay fit and play professionally. It’s sport. Unlike golf. 😛
Pioli failed to build on the scudetto winning team and we were playing badly but still managed to go to CL semis. Then we saw that our pants were not even on. We faced Spurs when they were the worst and beat Napoli away before the quarter final.
Pioli is not the answer and neither is anyone who hasn’t managed a big club before even if a milanista like De Zerbi is there.
Conte, Sarri or something bigger.
The CL semi-final was the work that MM left intact, and was propelled forward by Pioli. Since then, the RedBird influence started taking shape. To imagine that Singer senior had lots of respect for Cardinale in the field of sports is mind-boggling!
Milan have a lot to fix it’s daunting. They need to spend more in the market these 15-25min transfers are not working, they need new management including new scouts (whoever’s idea it was bring in Emerson has no business at a club of Milan’s size absolutely shocking transfer), they need to get rid of certain players Theo being the main culprit but also need to clear out some that just really aren’t at Milan’s level, musah is just not good enough technically and try recruit a few more experienced players, Kjaer managed to keep the football head on tomori until he got seriously injured that’s when tomori started playing poorly
Conceicao want to make epic ending. Conceicao will open the pandora box in 5 weeks.
Cardinale milan is really great. Famous with drama.
There is a reasons why cardinale milan is so exciting to follow because full of drama.
