Antonio Conte may be forced to pick a certain centre-back pairing against AC Milan, with some fitness issues to contend with.

The big news for Napoli in the build-up to the game is the absence of Alessandro Buongiorno, who sustained a muscle problem during their win over Pisa on Monday and is expected to be out for the best part of a month.

The expectation was that Conte would make a like-for-like change, with Amir Rrahmani coming in for the Italian. However, Corriere dello Sport (via MilanNews) report that there is a further issue for the coach to contend with.

Rrahmani has not fully recovered from the muscle injury he suffered while playing for the national team in early September, and will therefore not start tomorrow evening’s match against the Rossoneri after all.

Therefore, it is anticipated that Conte will rely on the duo of Sam Beukema and Juan Jesus, a pairing that has not started together yet this season. Could it be something for Milan to exploit? Beukema, it must be said, was Napoli’s main signing of the summer, costing €31m to get from Bologna.

  1. Do not care about their injury troubles! We’ve had more than our fair share over the last few years and especially prior to big games
