As has been the case in other recent years, Antonio Conte’s fate could spark a domino effect involving various coaches.

Corriere dello Sport (via Calciomercato.com) report this morning how it’s no secret that – once qualification for next season’s Champions League is secured – Conte and owner Aurelio De Laurentiis will meet to decide if their partnership can continue.

The Salento coach will demand certain guarantees and a transfer market that aims to strengthen a squad that must compete for the Scudetto and have do better in Europe’s top competition, after the failure this season.

On the other hand, the Napoli owner will try to put some issues on the table such as rejuvenating the squad and lowering the wage bill. From there they will try to find a compromise, always bearing in mind that someone is ready to take over.

A coaching carousel?

Maurizio Sarri – the current Lazio coach – would be completely open to a return to Napoli, should they decide to make a change. Sarri is certainly enticed by the possibility of returning to Naples, competing for the Scudetto and once again competing in the Champions League.

Napoli are just three points away from the Champions League and a win against Bologna would secure their qualification, thus freeing up time for planning and scheduling next season, starting with the meeting between Conte and De Laurentiis.

What next for Conte if he leaves? The former Chelsea boss is enticed by the possibility of being the leader of Italian football again, as is Massimiliano Allegri, who is planning his future with Milan but who has yet to lock in the Champions League.

If there were a hypothetical farewell, the paper adds, the Rossoneri will be keeping an eye on Vincenzo Italiano in Bologna and might even consider Conte himself, should Allegri ultimately agree to accept the Azzurri’s courtship.

Lazio could try for Italiano if Sarri leaves for Napoli too. Watch out for what could happen at Atalanta (with Palladino still unsure whether he’ll stay) and Fiorentina (with Vanoli possibly leaving to make way for Sassuolo’s Grosso). In short, Conte could spark a real revolution.

  1. Let Conte take over the national team once again, we should get Sarri then. If not, Allegri can go to NT and that leaves Conte to us which wouldn’t be bad.

    1. Revolt I hate alegri but if it’s sari then I’m fine with alegri sari is worst 3 coaches that i believe they are worse than alegri 1 tuchel 2 Mancini 3 sari

  2. What did he achieve? Are you serious, bro? They stole him the “scudetto” when he was in Napoli
(at least one, I might add), he then won EL with Chelsea and then the “scudetto” with juventus
which is (was) their last one so far, by the way.

  3. Does anyone have a good sense of how Maresca likes to play? I’m not saying we should get him cause I know too little. But he is a name that has done some interesting results at least. But I have no clue how he coaches.
