Milan secured their first derby win since the 2015/16 season, beating Inter by two goals to one at the San Siro last night. It was also their first away win against the Nerazzurri since the 2010/11 season.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic was the big hero with a brace after just 16 minutes, leading his side in what was an impressive performance. Despite Romelu Lukaku’s goal in the first half, the Rossoneri were able to see out the lead and cement their spot in first place.
In an interview with Sky Italia (via FCInterNews), after the full-time whistle, Antonio Conte branded Milan as ‘lucky’ and explained that his side had many chances to equalise. They were, as he described it, unlucky not to get more.
“We are disappointed to have lost a match in which we created so much and Milan got lucky. I saw a lot of effort, the boys were very keen. Two errors, then many opportunities to draw and win. Congratulations to them,” he stated.
However, Milan also had chances to extend their lead and saying they only got ‘lucky’ is very unfair. In any case, the Rossoneri are now gearing up to take on Celtic in the Europa League group stage on Thursday evening.
