Conte spotted at Torino-Napoli amid Milan links – what he told fans

By Oliver Fisher -

There has been a lot of talk about Antonio Conte returning to Serie A to manage one of the clubs that might need a new head coach heading into 2024-24, and AC Milan have been linked.

As Radio Rossonera report, the DAZN cameras caught Conte in attendance at the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino where he was sitting and watching the defeat for Napoli, who are now closer to the relegation zone than to qualifying for the Champions League.

It was a surprise development, because while Conte lives in the north of Italy the former Juventus and Inter coach has been linked with the Napoli job, despite suggestions he has declined the initial proposals from them.

CalcioNapoli24 reports a conversation overheard between Conte and some fans before the kick-off of Torino-Napoli, during which he was asked about taking over the Partenopei. Conte’s response? “It can be done, but I want to do things well.”

As a reminder, the director of Sportitalia – Michele Criscitiello – stated last week that Conte is ‘waiting for Milan’ and that he would not demand the world in terms of salary and summer signings.

A number of names have been linked to Milan Thiago Motta of Bologna to Roberto De Zerbi of Brighton, and we put five candidates to the test in an experiment on Football Manager.
