Mike Maignan again produced a couple of outstanding saves, then in the final moments there was a major incident. A penalty appeal from Lazio for handball on Strahinja Pavlovic went to a VAR review, but the referee ended up giving a foul against the visiting side.

The ensuing events led to Massimiliano Allegri arguing with Maurizio Sarri’s assistant and getting a red card, while there were some funny reactions from the Milan players too, who feared the worst when the referee went to the monitor.

  1. That “incident” should have never went to review. It was a clear foul. Refereeing has been terrible. And we had more than enough chances to double the score.

  2. Not only has the refereeing been bad, the VAR officials have been horrible. Some major abuse of position among the VAR crews.
