The situation in the standings is looking troubling for AC Milan, who not only risk missing out on the Champions League but also the Europa League. As such, the Coppa Italia could become a crucial lifeline for the Rossoneri.
After beating Sassuolo in the round of 16 and Roma in the quarter-finals, Milan will be up against city rivals Inter in the semi-final. On the other side of the knockout tree, Bologna will take on Empoli for what is a surprising semi-final pairing to say the least.
Although the big clubs normally only see the Coppa Italia as a way to clinch a trophy and earn some glory, as well as beat whoever they are facing, it could be more for Milan this season. Indeed, with a Europa League spot in the pot, they might need to push for it a lot more.
Milan are currently in eighth place in the Serie A standings, eight points behind the top four and six points off the Europa League. Even the Conference League is four points away, so not even that is certain for the Rossoneri.
In short, should the struggles continue in the league, then the Coppa Italia could suddenly become the only way for Milan to clinch Europa League football. How the mighty have fallen…
It would be better with just Serie A to focus on if no UCL next season. Worked fine for Napoli, didn’t it?
I would say it is Conte for Napoli more than their absence from any European competition
Yes but Milan needs to catch result.
They need something now in last 10 games so they can count on and hang on next year
What happen this season is continuation of last 10 very bad games last year.
So anyway I think players always needs to fight for next games only in terms to show if they are ready to be here next year also.
So they need to show something now to continue using in next year to come back in Europe again. Of course removing flops next year is crucial
“So anyway I think players always needs to fight for next games only in terms to show if they are ready to be here next year also.”
Try saying that to Theo, Leao & co. Should be a given but not to the players of today.
Yea but everyone here continue the same argument. Everyone needs to understand that there are few players in world that can play 4000 minutes per year on high level.
If Milan had decent back ups for Leao and Hernandez everyone would forgot how Hernandez and Leao played bad some games, because we would win more games.
Now let’s remember a year with Okafor who scored 6 or ore goals from bench. This season Okafor scored only 1. For Hernandez there is no back up for 5 straight years…
Rotations are essential in year when you have games every 3 days…
I’ve been saying that we were in trouble since they sacked M&M. I didn’t think it’d get this bad this quickly.
Crash out of Champions League.
Fight for 4th.
Boy was I wrong. We might not even be in Europe at this rate.
I actually thought they would have build on the foundations M&M left and then when they had achieved some success they’d say it was all their doing and no credit it what was done before..that was my biggest fear at the time. Boyy couldn’t have been more wrong…
The title of this article itself is a disgrace for Milan 😔
Thank you Cardinale and Co
It’s time to restart the project, we don’t have anything right now. It’s a sad reality but it’s time for us to wake up to the truth.
How the mighty have fallen. Thanks to Gerry and his clowns.
Honestly, given our predicament, I think a year out of Europe altogether isn’t that bad of a thing. Sad, but may be true.
This was all preventable. Many of us saw what was happening since Cardinale’s day one. But were called doom and gloom.
All they had to do was put in the missing puzzles. But no, they thought they’re smarter than that. All for the sake of ego and wanting to have your own story written. Now Garry has it. Written in dirt.
Like anyone who didn’t see this coming right from day 1 of Maldini and Redbird conversing and their response to his solidly laid down arguments are am putting this nicely bleeding heart tellytubbies.
This was no doom or gloom or pessimism. It was pragmatism and practicality. Redbird was never interested in sporting success given their decisions. But it took almost three years for people to figure it out.
Damn people really be dumb.
For seeing and saying the truth right from the get go, people were labeled dooma ND gloom, wailers and then later hindsight warriors🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️. These types of fans deverve everything Redbird put them through.
Unfortunately the sensible fans also suffer same fate. When it rains it really pours.
Have a nice evening Ted. At least you and some few tried standing up for Maldini and what was clearly right.
I am so incensed at the stupidity of some so called fans here who glazed Redbird despite what even a new day born babe could see was the wrong decisions🤦🤦🤷♂️🤷♂️
Oh well….
We risk even not making Conference League. Coppa Italia is a must. Full focus on this. We will see after a loss or draw vs Lazio we wont make
It past 8th place
