CorSport: Milan search for cause of excessive injuries – it’s not calendar-related

By Euan Burns -

AC Milan are trying to work out why they are having to deal with so many injuries, and the potential reasons do not include the number of games that they are having to play in the early stage of the season.

As has been reported by Corriere dello Sport (via Milan News), there are two potential reasons for Milan having more injuries this season than some of their rivals.

Obviously, the team have been playing a lot of games but so have many other teams. The solution needs to be more specific to the team, and one possible reason is the athletic preparation in the summer and the long distances that were travelled for various friendlies.

The team may have been worked too hard, too early in the season. Another potential issue is the work that is being done at Milanello during the season.

Pioli and his staff may need to change how they approach recovery after games.

  1. This long travel nonsense is just poor journalism. Was that the excuse last year or the year before? The reality is Milan have poor training/recovery programs coupled with lack of will to change anything meaningful.
