CorSera: Two-way battle for Milan defender expected to leave on loan

Matteo Gabbia didn’t feature much for AC Milan this past season and a loan move is thus on the cards for the defender. Two clubs, in particular, are interested and will have to battle it out as per a report.

Gabbia made 17 appearances for Milan this past season but registered just 895 minutes on the pitch, which clearly isn’t enough to grow as a player. He did find the back of the net once, scoring against Dinamo Zagreb with a diving header.

According to today’s edition of Corriere Della Sera (via MilanNews), the two newly-promoted sides Frosinone and Genoa are interested in the 23-year-old. Milan want to loan him out and the two clubs will have to battle it out for Gabbia’s consent.

It’s worth noting that Gabbia will travel with the Milan squad to Los Angeles tomorrow for the pre-season tour. He’s also expected to play from start in the Rossoneri’s friendly against Lumezzane later today (kick-off at 17:00 CEST).
