CorSera: Black man among four culprits to receive life ban from Udinese

By Oliver Fisher -

A remarkable detail has emerged regarding the racist abuse that Mike Maignan was subjected to during Saturday night’s 3-2 win against Udinese.

This morning’s edition of Corriere della Sera (via PianetaMilan) spoke about the abuse that the Rossoneri was the victim of during the match at the Bluenergy Stadium.

After the first person responsible for racist chants was identified on Monday, nailed by a video published on social media, yesterday it was the turn of four others.

The paper sensationally claims that among these four other culprits, there was a black man. There was a woman too, with three from the province of Udine and one from the city.

Among various insults, they shouted ‘monkey’ at Maignan and they are all aged between 32 and 46 . They are not children, nor minors: they are adults who will therefore all have to accept their punishment.

The Police Commissioner of Udine issued a five-year Daspo sentence against them, i.e. the maximum measure foreseen as they are non-recidivist subjects.

Udinese then announced that they were going to ban any perpetrators for life, and thus the total of ‘fans’ that they have given lifetime bans to rises to five. It remains to be seen if more culprits will be identified.
