AC Milan will only sack head coach Marco Giampaolo in favour of a top quality head coach, a report claims, with the primary target identified.
Despite a 2-1 win over Genoa on Saturday to end a three-game losing streak, there are growing reports that Giampaolo is set to lose his job after yet another unconvincing performance.
On Sunday, we revealed that Giampaolo’s future is in serious jeopardy, with the club considering his position.
According to il Corriere della Sera on Monday – as cited by MilanNews.it – in the few last hours ‘the percentages of his sacking have become very high’.
However, the paper goes on to claim that Milan’s leaders will not make a change for the sake of change, and instead will only do so if a top quality coach takes his place.
They add that Luciano Spalletti is the first choice to take Giampaolo’s spot on the bench, however he has a contract with Inter which is to be resolved, plus he would demand €5m-a-year.
