CorSera: How Fonseca’s impact is ‘immediately noticeable’ as season opener draws near

By Euan Burns -

New AC Milan coach Paulo Fonseca has had a big impact on the team during the summer and it is reportedly ‘immediately noticeable’ with the first game of the season approaching.

As reported by Corriere della Sera (via Milan News), the Portuguese coach is making his presence known early on and he is having a very positive impact on the atmosphere in the dressing room.

Perhaps more importantly, the friendlies played so far in the United States of America have proved that Fonseca has very clear tactical ideas that the players are grasping early on, with matches against opponents like Manchester City, Barcelona and Real Madrid providing plenty of learning points.

The team appears to be a lot more careful in defence than it was last season, with more balance evident across the eleven.

The expectation is that Milan will concede fewer goals than they did in Stefano Pioli’s final season in charge, whilst having more of a clear identity in attack that should lead to a more entertaining style of football.

Milan have one more friendly to learn from as they take on Monza on Tuesday night, before the season opener against Torino on Saturday evening at San Siro where thousands of expectant fans will be watching.

  1. You want to prevent a lot of goals, build a wall in front of the defense – bring in DM’s ASAP. Seems pretty straight forward.
