CorSera: Giampaolo’s position ‘weakened’; Fiorentina game could be decisive

By Oliver Fisher -

Marco Giampaolo’s position as AC Milan head coach is safe for now but was once again weakened by defeat to Torino, a report claims.

Giampaolo has had a difficult start to life as Milan boss, losing three of his first five matches in charge and having seen his side score just one goal from open player.

We reported earlier in the week that while the former Sampdoria manager has the full trust of the leadership for now, owners Elliott Management need to see an improvement soon.

The trip to the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino on Thursday night will not have helped matters as the Diavolo surrendered a lead in the last 20 minutes to lose 2-1.

A shock report from il Corriere dello Sport on Friday then went as far as to claim that Milan are considering bringing Gattuso back for a second spell as coach.

According to il Corriere della Sera on Friday – as cited by MilanNews – Giampaolo’s position as head coach ‘has been weakened’ after damaging back-to-back defeats.

As a result, the upcoming game against Vincenzo Montella’s struggling Fiorentina at San Siro on Sunday has become crucial for his future.
