CorSera: Giroud will be on the bench in Liverpool vs. Milan – not ready to start

By Isak Möller -

Olivier Giroud recently tested negative for Covid-19 and has been called up for AC Milan’s clash against Liverpool this evening. However, the Frenchman isn’t expected to play from start, which is understandable.

Despite the absence of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Stefano Pioli is expected to go with Ante Rebic as the centre-forward, just like against Lazio. The Croatian did very well in that game (two assists) and deserves to get another chance from start.

Having said that, it’s almost certain that Giroud would’ve started if it hadn’t been for the fact that he has just returned. He tested negative on Friday and has taken part in two training sessions since, so he’s not in the best condition.

As reported by Corriere Della Sera (via MilanNews), he should thus be on the bench tonight and Rebic will be the starter. Of course, it’s very possible that we could see the Frenchman make an appearance off the bench.
