CorSera: Goals from the bench make the difference again as Okafor shows his worth

By Oliver Fisher -

On Friday against Lazio, AC Milan brought home a hard-fought victory that was very important for their position in the table and it came thanks to another goal off the bench.

As Corriere della Sera (via MilanNews) report, the Rossoneri secured third place, kept their pursuers at bay and closed the gap on Juventus who are second and who will be playing against Napoli this evening.

Once again, a goal off the bench decided the match, which makes the total 13 out of 51 for Milan in the league, a total that nobody in the ‘top five’ European leagues can match.

The paper praises the scorer of the winning goal, namely Noah Okafor, who entered the field in place of Yacine Adli in the second half. The Swiss international, who arrived in the summer from Red Bull Salzburg on a permanent basis for €14m, has thus reached five goals this season (all in the league).

Analysing his goals we see that when he scores, Milan always win (Cagliari, Lazio, Monza, Udinese and Lazio again). Although he has missed a few games due to injury, Okafor is proving to be an excellent reinforcement.

The 23-year-old forward is showing what he can do off the bench, but on Sunday it will be his turn to play from the first minute in the league against Empoli. Rafael Leao will in fact be suspended (he was booked against Lazio when he was one away from a ban) and his place on the left will be taken by Okafor.

After the win against Lazio, Noah explained: “What if a new season starts for me after this match? I hope so, I work every day to be available to the team and to score goals.”

  1. Okafor needs to start in Giroud’s place as a number 9 with Leao & Pulisic as the flanks. He can become a lethal forward 🔥
