CorSera: Ibrahimovic’s future still to be written – one clause will trigger a renewal

By Oliver Fisher -

There is simply no doubting the impact that the return of Zlatan Ibrahimovic after eight years away has made on this AC Milan team.

Since the turn of the year when the Swede officially signed, Milan have been a different side altogether. They have lost just once in competitive action, that being a 4-2 defeat to Inter where they thoroughly outplayed their opponent for 45 minutes.

However, he is of course only under contract until the end of the season, and as il Corriere della Sera note (via Calciomercato.com) the future of Ibrahimovic is still to be written.

There is a clause in his deal that ensures a year extension will be automatically triggered in the case of qualification for the Champions League, which objectively is still far away at the moment.

That said, with the contribution that the 38-year-old has made so far, the two parties will sit down with extreme serenity at the end of the season to understand if there is the potential to continue together anyway. A lot depends, the paper adds, on the will of the player.
