CorSera: Maldini’s future heavily depends on the arrival of Rangnick

By Isak Möller -

As Zvone Boban will leave AC Milan in the coming days, having been sacked by the owners, Paolo Maldini’s future at the club remains uncertain. Although it’s difficult to imagine him staying, one factor will be decisive.

According to today’s edition of Corriere Della Sera (via MilanNews.it), the director hasn’t made a decision on his future yet, perhaps waiting to see how the next few weeks will develop.

The most likely hypothesis is that he will continue until the end of the season, not wanting to leave the club in the middle of the season. Boban’s departure, in the middle of what can only be described as a crucial phase of the season, is bad enough.

However, Maldini will hardly remain for next season as well. In addition to the disagreements with CEO Ivan Gazidis, the potential arrival of Ralf Rangnick would make it impossible for the director to work under his own terms.
