CorSera: Milan hypothesis ‘alive’ for Conte but Pioli’s position remains strong

By Isak Möller -

Antonio Conte recently parted ways with Tottenham and is looking for a new club to coach, starting next season. AC Milan are one of the options but it’s an unlikely one for now, a report claims.

After losing the Round of 16 in the Champions League to Milan, Conte (in classic fashion) become more and more honest during his press conferences. He made critical comments towards the club owners and eventually parted ways with Spurs.

According to Corriere Della Sera, as cited by MilanNews, Conte is currently evaluating his options for next season and a lot will depend on the Champions League race. However, the candidates are Milan, Inter, Roma and Juventus.

The latter three clubs are the most realistic ones, as Stefano Piol’s position at Milan remains very strong for the time being. UCL qualification is a must still, but provided he manages that then he’s likely to keep his job as per the report.

  1. Conte is a poisoned chalice, he is impetuous, petulant and honestly is not a revolutionary interms of tactics and creating teams, he will moan and groan, and demand outrageous expenses, his salary is too much, his record in Europe is also very poor, rather than having conte, the best thing for the club is to support and stick with Pioli…

  2. 100 %.
Let Milan get through it challenges, fighting always with our young old not so expensive squad. Leave the hype football to the hypesters!

  3. With the combination of high salary and self-destructive personality, Conte would be quite literally the worst choice of manager for Milan at this stage in their project. It would almost certainly end up reversing the good work done in the past 3 seasons. For the love of god, I pray this appointment does not happen now or in the future.

  4. Pls ooo Milan should sign somebody very impressive and decisive to replace leao we should not make the mistake by making wrong signing which means we should scout well

  5. If Milan really has the money that much for a coach, I’d go for Klopp or even bring back Ancelotti. Conte will blame everyone in the board and players if he fails. At this point, even Pioli is still better than him in terms of squad list. With last season’s squad, I doubt Conte could gave us scudetto.

    1. Klopp is very good choice. He knows how to foster and build string team with undeniable talented tactics.
Ancheloti won’t come back unless milan choas is settled

    2. Ancelotti only coaches team with ready-made stars. When was the last time he coached a team consisting mostly of youth players / non-superstars? Exactly. He’s not coming to Milan.

      1. Yes mostly a stars. But Kaka, gattuso, and especially Pirlo. He is one of the coach who moved Pirlo to regista and combined him with gattuso. It is like you are having elegant and brute force all together in a team. Sheva is also a star and joined before ancelotti, but his full potential is unlocked when ancelotti is in charge

        1. True. I’m not saying Ancelotti couldn’t make good players into superstars but I’m saying he’s not interested in getting into such a project. He wants the trophies immediately with players he already knows are good/great enough.

          1. Ah you are right man. No coach with high end CV will be interesting on joining Milan. It is not because of the club history, it is because of the project. For decade we are only targeting for top 4 which is sad, especially after winning scudetto. We lost momentum

  6. I quite liked conte the football player but never been a fan of him as a coach so id prefer keeping pioli regardless and if we actually were to give him a properr right wing our game could actually develope so we doesnt become too predictable.

      1. He got us the scudetto which i doubt any other coach would have been able to do with the squad we have so thats tactician enough for me.

  7. My dream is guardiola. And its not unrealistic. He will come to italy. I could see guardiola in Milan , Diego Simeone in Inter and Zidane in Juventus.

    1. he was paid £19.5million-a-year in 2022 so i doubt its even remotely possible but besides of that he has never coached a team as badly equipped as milans squad is so quite frankly im not so sure he would do any better than pioli.

  8. Remember how conte track record end in juve, chelsea, inter and now spurs. He always fight with club owner like agnelli ( juve ) , abramovich ( chelsea ) , zhang ( inter ) and the latest daniel levy ( spurs) . If pioli out , i will prefer AC Milan hire italian coach that dont demand star player but can compete in top league like de zerbi, sarri or ranieri. But if conte vs pioli as AC Milan coach then i will choose pioli
