CorSera: Milan will not challenge Spurs but have 2024 plan for Roma star

By Isak Möller -

Roma are keen on selling Nicolo Zaniolo before the end of the January window and AC Milan are keeping tabs on the situation. However, the Rossoneri will not be making a move this month, a report claims.

Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara have followed the player for quite some time and there have been many links over the last few months. However, even with Roma looking to sell, Milan will stay clear for a while.

According to today’s edition of Corriere della Sera (via MilanNews), Roma have officially put Zaniolo on the market and the attacking midfielder thus won’t be called up before the end of the market. Tottenham are interested but have only proposed a loan formula, which Roma aren’t keen on.

Milan, on the other hand, will wait until the summer of 2024 and then make a new assessment. That’s when Zaniolo’s contract will expire with Roma, provided he stays at the club for that long (which is unlikely). The Rossoneri aren’t exactly super keen on the winger for now, in other words.

  1. The current fall which Milan is going through, it’s all because of the management. They are totally confused and don’t know exactly what to do. Waiting for Zaniolo till 2024 sounds so bizarre. They should have brought a Right Winger in the summer, but they didn’t.
All those decisions made by the management also effects the renewal of our star players. Nobody would like to stay with a club whose project is not going in the right direction.
Getting Kessie back would have been great (I know he betrayed us at the very last moment, but we should forgive him and work together since he was willing to come back. Maybe he learnt from his mistake)
Because of him our defence looked so strong last season.
We as fans, we are suffering each and every season. I want our club to be with the elites as it use to before.

    1. Completely agree with everything you say. We clearly don’t have anything to spend, and a new management who aren’t interested, they have solely signed Milan as an investment….all we are doing is accumulating mid range dross to the point where beyond our starting XI we have a squad full of ‘ifs ’, ‘ buts’ and maybes….

I don’t blame Pioli for our fall from grace, his squad is poor. We need a world class striker, we have two excellent strikers who are way past their best and can’t give us a full season in Giroud and Ibra. The back 5 are excellent, the pivots are excellent, then we see the issues. Apart from Leao there’s nothing in attack. It’s sporadic good games from Diaz, Saelemaakers, Messias and that’s it. The decision to go all in fro CDK was a bad one. Milan of 2003 would have been wise to go in for CDK because we had world class starters and could afford him time. Why we needed was a starting RW…all the Berardi haters will jump on me but we should have gone all in for him…Origi was never the answer and o said this from day one whilst others were predicting he’d be top scorer 😂😂 Thiaw, Vranckx etc may one day be great but we are shopping in the bargain bins…..

I’d love to see Zaniolo and Berardi, the former as CAM behind a striker (which we also need) with Berardi RW…but we can’t afford that..

It’s clear these new owners won’t invest a dime until the club is making profit beyond what they want to recoup..if they aren’t prepared to invest now then when will they….

  2. Why all complaints?
Maldini, Mässar and the others do exactly what they supposed to do.

Yes we can follow the path that Inter and Juve have done, and be a descent team in serie A.
But what the management do know is to take us beyond that and make ACM a big team in Europe.

If they spend a lot in the mecato an give the players higher salerys? Yes, that probely get us a good season and get us the scudetto again, but then?

The risk is very high that the FFP will hit us hard and we’ll be excluded from CL or other European contests. The result will be less money to spent in the next mercato. We’ll lose the signing whit players who wants to play in the CL. Do you think it’ll be easier to keep players like Leao if we can’t play in the CL?

About players like CDK, Adli, they are just investments.
ACM will continue to do these kind of deals to sign young promising players. If they be a part of the starting lineup like Lea, Bennacer and Tonali that’s of course good. But they can also be like Hauge that don’t contribute so much to the team but can be sold whit a profit.

Also rember that Leao and Tonali’s first seasons was not speciellt good.

Cardinal cooperation whit the management of Milan working to give the clubs finances stability and building the brand of AC Milan like the big clubs in PL.
It will take time but if you look at it closely they are surely on the right path.

    Forca Milan
