CorSera: Milan’s summer signings to the rescue after bad approach

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan climbed back up to joint-top of the table with a 3-1 victory against Cagliari at the Unipol Domus on Wednesday evening.

Today’s edition of Il Corriere della Sera (via PianetaMilan) speaks about the game, writing how Milan did not give up and they sent a loud and clear message to the rest of the league, catching Inter at the top.

The Rossoneri took home three very important points, despite the initial struggle. Stefano Pioli changed many starters for last night’s match and they suffered a bit from a lack of cohesion in the first half.

The paper states that Milan’s ‘approach was disappointing’ so much so that a mistake from the home goalkeeper Radunovic was decisive for the comeback.

However, the test for ‘Milan B’ was passed. In fact, two out of the three scorers were new signings and good indications also came from Adli, Chukwueze, Musah. The former especially convinced, after being a mysterious object last year.

The impression remains that Okafor is not a true first striker, but his equalising goal shows how the Swiss can still be useful in that role too. However, both Leao and Giroud should return to the starting lineup in attack on Saturday against Lazio.

  1. It’s games like these where these players need to be given opportunities. Not just for cohesion but for match fitness.
Otherwise we will find ourselves in similar situation like last season…..
