As a result of the club revolution, with Ralf Rangnick in pole to become AC Milan’s new manager, there is also expected to be a defensive overhaul this summer. In total, as many as six players could leave.
As reported by today’s edition of CorSport (via Milanlive.it), the most notable movement will be on the goalkeeping front, as Gigio and Antonio Donnarumma are both destined to leave the Rossoneri. Same goes for Pepe Reina, now on loan at Aston Villa.
Asmir Begovic, who joined from Bournemouth in January, could be signed on a permanent basis. The trio of goalkeepers could be completed by the young Alex Meret, owned by Napoli, and Milan product Alessandro Plizzari.
As for the defenders, the likes of Andrea Conti, Davide Calabria, Mattia Gabbia, Alessio Romagnoli and Theo Hernandez are set to stay. However, as the newspaper notes, the latter two are men of the market, so nothing should be excluded.
Meanwhile, Mateo Musacchio and Leo Duarte are both expected to leave this summer. Simon Kjaer, on the other hand, hopes that Milan will redeem him for €2.5m, although the future is far from certain.
