CorSera: Pioli has ‘ended up in the dock’ after questionable tactics vs. Udinese

By Oliver Fisher -

Stefano Pioli is a man under pressure at the moment after his AC Milan side lost three of their last four games to complicate their season both domestically and in Europe.

The defeats against Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain began the slide, while the 2-2 draw against Napoli was not a terrible result on paper but the team led 2-0 at half-time and threw it away. Losing to a previously winless Udinese side at San Siro on Saturday, however, sparked crisis talk.

According to this morning’s edition of Corriere della Sera (via MilanNews), Pioli ‘ended up in the dock’ after Saturday’s defeat because tactical choices were not convincing at all.

In particular, the paper writes that the decision to deploy two strikers from the first minute, meaning Olivier Giroud had to play further from goal while Luka Jovic had very little impact.

Despite this, the coach still has the trust of the management and ownership, even if he will have to try to immediately turn the season around.
