Two of AC Milan’s star men this season both have a first name starting with ‘R’ and a surname beginning with ‘L’, namely Rafael Leao and Ruben Loftus-Cheek.
Today’s edition of Corriere della Sera (via PianetaMilan) picks out the duo for special praise, starting with the Portuguese winger who – together with Lautaro Martínez and Victor Osimhen – is the match-winner for his side with goals, assists and leadership.
Milan cannot do without its leader Leao and Leao cannot do without stimuli. Against Lazio, he struggled for the entire first half but in the second half, he decided the match with two assists for Christian Pulisic and Noah Okafor.
To take the next step, Leao must reduce the periods of time in games where he just seems to drift and doesn’t seem switched on because his talent is unquestionable. Now his feeling with Pulisic is also growing, which is a positive sign.
Loftus-Cheek is becoming increasingly important in the way that Pioli’s Milan are trying to play. He will miss the away match at Borussia Dortmund after requesting to come off in Saturday’s game.
For the former Chelsea man it is not a serious injury: he has a groin strain caused by a tackle with Mattia Zaccagni. Pioli is ready to deploy Yunus Musah, who looked very good against Lazio.
The Rossoneri face a ‘Red October’ with Borussia Dortmund, Juventus, PSG and Napoli to come. Everyone’s help will be needed. From Leao to Loftus-Cheek plus those less involved in the coach’s rotations.
Musah is already better than RLC in what Milan need from a player on that position.
I agree. RLC has his usefulness, he is strong and technically decent, but Musah is the complete package, and get contribute defensively as well. Plus, he is only 20, so he is one for Milan’s future.
bla bla blainternacional no italian players boooo
Absolutely true and seconded, Mussah is the bomb.
