Sergio Conceicao clinched an important win in his first game as the head coach of AC Milan, leading them to a second-half turnaround. As highlighted by a newspaper this evening, it was a good first sign despite a subpar performance overall.
Indeed, the Rossoneri had their fair share of struggles in the game, especially in the first half, and Juventus could have killed the game earlier on. They never did, though, and Conceicao’s men pounced at the right moment to clinch the win.
As highlighted by today’s edition of Corriere della Sera (via MilanNews), the huddle with the entire team at the end was an encouraging snapshot of Milan’s new era. There is still a lot of work to be done, but the team has a soul that promises to be different.
Of course, given the lack of training sessions ahead of the game, Conceicao couldn’t work miracles and had to work with the little he had. Milan were a bit lucky with their goals, but without luck in football, then you won’t get anywhere.
Furthermore, the manager also deserved praise for making the necessary changes in the second half, as well as energising the team during the interval. Much more will be needed against Inter on Monday, that’s for sure, but at least the win against Juventus was a good first sign.
Let’s not get ahead of ourselves; we won one match where we played badly for most minutes.
It would have been helpful if you at least know that our squad and main player were not healthy, despite been a milan fan i have to admit that milan were not favorite yesterday.
Well I agree with coz it was a team of two halves with a negative first half and positive second half… I would go for the second tho. But you have to understand that this is a team of limited squad and with a new coach trying to implement his ideas to the team, for me what drives me with the new milan was that the team played with heart and a fighting spirit, I would give the team a pass here.
Forza Milan♥️🖤🥳
A penalty and an own goal, and now the team has soul.
Without luck (a penalty and an own goal from 30 yards), you won’t get anywhere.
Did anybody watch the game? We were awful. It was a minor miracle we “won” this game.
Here’s a thought exercise.. pretend we didn’t somehow fluke this win off with a 30 yard own goal from the sidelines, and lost on pk’s (which really isn’t losing – more of a coin toss). What do you think the reaction would have been?
I can’t (actually, unfortunately I can) believe people formulating their opinions of how the game went based 100% solely on the outcome.
The only honest reaction to this match: we were god awful in the first half, tried hard in the second half, and fluked off a win with a penalty and a 1/1000 own goal. That’s it.
Think positive
Yes we had luck but we win Inter these season so lets go.
@Milan 905
I dont think people should be judging off of one game but I think we should take these two “freebie” games to get to learn the new coach’s tactics. Theres no real consequences of we lose tbh especially as we now have a new coach but we get to have two games to get up to speed…it couldn’t have come at a better time.
That’s how I’m viewing the games. Can’t say the same for everyone else but Im not getting ahead of myself. I judge only the process under the new coach and thats it If I’m positive it’s only due to support and love for the team.
I don’t understand the Pg era of football. Milan was lucky sure but juventus were horrible. It was a poor goal as it was shit right at magnain. Yildiz didn’t look up poor goals are rated world class these days. Juve has a shit from long range which was saved as well as reinjders effort was the same. Don’t act like juve was wow. Even inter against ATALANTA both were poor 2 dead goals and tap ins by inter. So this game could go either way.
I’m surprised how many here don’t understand that it’s not about the lucky goals or the win even. It’s about the reaction that the team was able to display. Same game under Fonseca would have ended the same way it started – with everyone asleep.
Conceicao will need time but I loved seeing a spark in the second half after a poor first half. As I mentioned before it happened when we got the PK, but Conceicao’s mission should be to get these boys playing with that spark from the first minutes.
How many times have we seen Milan sluggish in the beginning of matches? Throughout one or both halves? Hell, even coming out of the tunnel sluggish???
It all starts in the head and hopefully Conceicao can change the team’s mentality. Supercoppa doesn’t even really matter. I don’t mind if they lose – Inter is a strong and deep team. So long as they play with more grit, intensity and self belief …
Forza Conceicao. FORZA MILAN ⚫️🔴
