CorSera: ‘Saturday Night Fever’ for Maignan – 39 degrees and a clean sheet

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan obtained a fundamental victory last night against Fiorentina in their bid to get back into the Scudetto race, and the team have Mike Maignan to thank.

According to what Corriere della Sera (via PianetaMilan) reported this morning, Maignan did not just stop Fiorentina from scoring but he also beat the flu in the process. The Frenchman had a fever of 39 degrees and despite this he was decisive and the best on the pitch.

The stop he made on Mandragora in the closing seconds was a candidate for save of the season and it essentially preserved the win for Milan. Had he not produced those heroics and another flicked-on corner had gone it, it would feel very different this morning.

Maignan did stay down after stopping Beltran and fans were worried about a possible muscle issue relapse, but it was perhaps due to a very high fever, or ‘Saturday night fever’ as it applies.

  1. Theo was Mike’s very own ‘flu game’ 🤭😂(I’ll see if the bball fans catch that reference)
If this is how he plays sick then maybe he needs to be sick more often 😂😂😂
