CorSera: The idea for the resumption of the Serie A season amid coronavirus pandemic

By Oliver Fisher -

On Friday, Serie A will assemble to discuss the situation generated by the Coronavirus emergency and what it means for the restarting of the season.

The league is currently suspended until at least April 3 as Italy continues to battle against the coronavirus outbreak (COVID-19) which has swept through northern regions and continues to cause great alarm.

According to what il Corriere della Sera are reporting on Friday (via MilanLive), the hypotheses is to start again in early May to close the championship by 30 June.

The season would end on that date and that is when player contracts would expire, something which is important given some expire on June 1.

Games would be played every three days, while the possibility of playoffs are considered a last resort.

UEFA is also expected to report the postponement of the 2020 European Championships in the near future, while the Premier League and EFL announced their decision to suspend all matches until the beginning of April following suit with the rest of Europe.
