CorSera: What Cardinale said during his meeting with Pioli and Milan players

By Oliver Fisher -

The first game as owner of AC Milan was certainly a night to remember for Gerry Cardinale as his side won the derby 3-2 against Inter at San Siro.

Corriere della Sera (via MilanNews) writes that yesterday Cardinale showed up at Milanello together with Gordon Singer and Giorgio Furlani to meet Stefano Pioli and the team and first of all congratulate them on the wonderful victory against the Nerazzurri.

Cardinale told the players that he had seen in them what he has seen from other sporting greats such as NBA star LeBron James and the wrestler The Rock, as well as seeing a collective team spirit present in the New York Yankees and the Dallas Cowboys.

Yesterday’s meeting was also an opportunity for Cardinale to explain his project and he confirmed that RedBird want to give continuity to Elliott Management’s work. Cardinale has huge ambitions, with the main one being to go further in the Champions League.

There are also other fundamental priorities such as the new stadium project and the renewal of Rafael Leao, who starred in the derby, with the hope that the win against Inter is a positive omen for the plans to come.
