CorSport: Arsenal outcast emerges as an option for Milan in midfield pursuit

By Isak Möller -

Over the last couple of days, quite a few midfielders have been linked with AC Milan as the Rossoneri on a reinforcement. A familiar player has emerged on their radar, namely Arsenal’s Albert Sambi Lokonga.

The Belgian international, aged 22, was linked with Milan last summer but he ended up leaving Anderlecht for Arsenal instead. One year on, he’s struggling with playing time and an exit cannot be ruled out.

According to today’s edition of Corriere Dello Sport (via SempreMilan), Milan are keeping tabs on Lokonga as the player is evaluating his situation. The biggest issue, of course, is the lack of playing time but he also wants the Champions League.

Milan can offer both and they also have three Belgians in the team, which could help convince the youngster to join them. The Rossoneri have other midfield targets as well, though, and the report didn’t mention any negotiations with Arsenal as of now.

The primary target seems to be Midtjylland’s Raphael Onyedika, which you can read more about here.

  1. We can’t pay 7m for onyedika and media think we can pay over 15m for lokonga……our mercato is done, the only player we can get now is a CB

  2. There is no way arsenal letting him go on loan . EPL already started & he will be on AC Milan bench too if he move to AC Milan , just change the bench
