CorSport: Not just Camarda as Pioli adds Simic to squad for Milan-Fiorentina

By Isak Möller -

Francesco Camarda will not be the only Primavera star in AC Milan’s squad against Fiorentina tonight. Stefano Pioli has also decided to call up Jan-Carlo Simic amid the defensive crisis, having already tested the Serbian in pre-season.

Simic arrived at Milan in the summer of 2022 and impressed during his first season with the Primavera side. As a result, Pioli called him up for the pre-season tour in the United States, during which he made two appearances. One of them was from start against Real Madrid.

The 18-year-old has also done well for the Primavera this season. Given the defensive crisis at the back, he will be called up for tonight’s game. This was reported by Corriere dello Sport (via MilanNews), highlighting the fact that he will be the only centre-back on the bench.

Malick Thiaw and Fikayo Tomori will play from start, of course, but Simic is ready to help the team off the bench. The same goes for Camarda, even if an appearance appears unlikely for the 15-year-old (!), who has scored seven goals this season.

Kick-off is scheduled for 20:45 and there will be 73k in attendance at San Siro. The fans, in short, remain present and will continue to support the team.
