CorSport: Cardinale attempts to reassure Pioli and fans – “I want to win in everything”

Gerry Cardinale sent a message to AC Milan head coach Stefano Pioli yesterday in which he attempted to reassure everyone that his ambitions are very high.

This morning’s edition of Corriere dello Sport (via PianetaMilan) recalls how Pioli mentioned during his press conference on the first day of preseason yesterday that he had spoken with Cardinale earlier in the day.

Pioli explained how Cardinale had wished him good luck, and the paper relayed the message sent by the RedBird founder: “Count on me and my team; we’re counting on you, our players and the support of our fantastic fans.”

Cardinale also wanted to reassure the Milan fans, who are still a little baffled by the sale of Sandro Tonali to Newcastle as well as the sackings of Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara too, wondering which direction the project is going.

Part of Cardinale’s message stressed his ambition: “I am working tirelessly to make sure that you are equipped for success. I want to win in everything and we can’t do it without a project to build on.”

Now, it is time for those words to be put into action with further investment in the transfer window to plug the obvious holes in the squad.

  1. “Lies” “Maldini=Milan” “Omg spend money like Chinese and get sanctioned by UEFA again”

Anything else I missed? People need to start to give this a chance

    1. Please tell who the hell on this site has said we should spend several hundred millions in this mercato ? I dont remember anyone unless you are refering to maybe someone that has posted on this site once or twice.
I simply cant come up with 1 single name of the usual commentators from sempremilan but still you keep rambling about the chinese ownership when none of us misses them.

      1. are you daft? There’s comments under every transfer about how Milan needs to spend big on every player EVEN THOUGH WE ARE STILL SANCTIONED BY UEFA

        1. Funny the chinese ownership spend 240 mil or something in their first transfer window, who demands that here ? you really make up a lot of bs in your posts and pretty confident everybody knows it on this site,

      2. and you literally replied to a couple of comments who think Milan should be spending 100m every window, so stfu about this

        1. So Ted, Z, Dejan10 or BB im pretty sure none of them demands chinese 240 mil transfer kits so it seems like you are making up stuff again.

          1. You must think you are a master at gaslighting if you think you are convincing anyone that everyone here is very happy and never complains about literally every single rumor and have been so happy for the past month, not saying Milan is doomed and will suck from now on right?

Oh and the best part of it was, MILAN SOLD OUT ITS SEASON TICKETS ALREADY SO THE ONLINE OUTRAGE WAS USELESS

          2. Had to look up gaslighting but it actually seems to me that is exactly what you are doing here as you are beating about the bush and you twist and turns everybodys comments to something different. To be quite honest im pretty sure you are a troll by now as you just start to bring up new bs when you have no reasonable answer, you do it all the time so yeah i stand by whatever ive said to you.

          3. haha yeah sure, i am in my 40ies and as i’ve told you several times before i’ve been a milan fan for over 30 years and i also handled goal.coms moderating for a few years but considering your comments you could actually be a kid so sorry if that is the case and i hurt your feelings 😀

          4. @Martin Bernhard,

Pretty much everyone in the blog knows by now this boulden guys is a ret@rd. So far, in this article.. Not A SINGLE piece of valid info/opinion has come of this person so far in all of his comments and that’s the kind of low pretty much impossible to reach. Every word written in response to this guy is a waste of a keystroke. Let this dude/thing rot in his own underdeveloped brain. Don’t dignify it with responses.

          5. I tend to agree Milan4lyf and i almost ignored it but i have been a bit bored today and his posts just were and are so ridiculous that i couldn’t help myself 😀

        2. This guy @Boulden is a proper IDIOT. Embarrassing kid.

If you know anything about football in todays market you be a SERIOUS challenger in UCL and the Scudetto you need to spend close to 70-100M each season. Established players cost 40-50M nowadays. Young p,Ayer as we have seen are now 20-30M. It’s crazy but that is the market. Will only get worse when the Saudi clubs continue to buy players and offer crazy salaries.

NOBODY is saying we should spend 150-300M you dimwit. How stupid are u buddy?

      1. Yes and all Maldini gave you was a bunch of words and did jack sh*t during transfer windows, Pulisic would’ve taken 5 more weeks with him in charge.

        1. OMG, you have some real mental issues dude. Every comment you reply with the same thing, stop being a coward you have been your whole life and talk about the actual topic. You can’t be such a coward and keep repeating the same thing as a reply to anything you don’t like.

  2. What kind of club owner he is?

Atleast have no balls to talk in public why he sacked and whats next, future of Milan.
    What he wants to do.

At the beginning it was told it will be new structure like PL clubs

But on contrary Pioli says noyhing has changed, his rôle is same as before.
But you have mixed the job of Moncada to scout and active role of transfert.
Maldini has been replace by 2persons Baresi and amother friend of Moncada.

Where none of them meet the team like the way Massara and Maldini did.

Its absolutely disgrace to the club, players and fans to have you as club owner.

  3. The snake has spoken with words of wisdom that are to be taken as granted. Like he kissed Maldini’s behind when he took over the club and then sack him as worthless garbage a season later although the goals were reached. Or saying the core players are protected and then sell the only player that embodied true values of AC Milan. A trustworthy person indeed.

    1. So true! Maybe he’s some kind of idiot a la Elon Musk. Or a massive storyteller. It’s cheap to say “I want to win everything”, it’s like one of us saying “I want to go to the moon”. Actions speak louder than words and for now it’s a behemoth mess regarding the hierarchy and the mercato.

        1. I think musk behaves idiotic but he is nevertheless a clever man looking at what he has achieved even if he also has been detrimental to his own businesses in recent years,

          1. Z – Sure but i think he has become more a madman in recent years and his businesses with both tesla and twitter has to my knowledge been affected by his erratic behaviou in a not so positive way but guess his success has gone a bit to his head.
Should be fun though to see him and zuckerberg beating eachother up in a mma match 😀

          2. Martin, he is the richest man on the planet and owns 2 companies that are literally changing our civilization.

I would refrain from comments how someone is erratic or doing something mad or being a “madman”, it is ridiculous.

          3. I did aknowledge that he is a clever man no question there and i propably should have said genious instead there but since he took over twitter both that company and tesla dropped down i stocks to my knowledge due to how he was acting and i do think he has behaved as a mad man in some of his comments and actions in handling for example twitter. That i stand by but there is no question either that he is a genious but so was howard hughes and he was also one of the richest and most influential people of his time.

          4. Just a quick question. Why did Amazon lose value if Bezos didn’t do what Musk did? It had nothing to do with what you mentioned. Not even Twitter, he overpaid for a company that knew about fake users and didn’t want to get rid of those bots to appear better to advertisers. It was properly valued after he purchased it and that is it.

All the stocks have gone down in that same period, Amazon lost more than half of its value at one point last year – same as Tesla, but the story is how Musk is ruining his companies. It just isn’t serious.😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

          5. I dont know enough about bezos to talk about him but musk even made it known that he considered not being active there and there was media reports that tesla stockholders wanted him to step down from twitter. When that is said there is obviously market mechanismns that also have effected it like recent years of corona and invasion of ukraine but im just saying his erratic behaviour also caused some issues for his compagnies.
Either way i think this musk discusion has run its course as its a football site 😀

        2. I know…that was a weird/deeply confused comment. The problem is all of this hysteria is over personalities rather than what’s actually happening. If Maldini had just bought RCL (which he was going to anyway) and was after the exact same players everything would be fine. But because it’s this evil millionaire American calling the shots we’re all doomed.

          1. Dejan my love wassup? I’m glad we start to know each other, so you like turbulences during flights and selling your best players for pedestrian recruits? What else? Getting punched in the face? Being splashed with gasoline and set on fire? Tell me more my bff!

          2. No, who actually said that? Man you do this every time and you are asking why would someone not be polite to you. Stop making stuff up to have your point sound better. We were all talking bad about RLC even while Maldini was still there. Something is really wrong with you and you won’t stop lying.

    2. Ha another classic freak out… I thought we’d explained Tonali was talking to Newcastle before they approached us? Anyway I’d love to sit next to you guys on a plane going through a bit of turbulence: “Aaarrgghhhh we’re all going to diiiiiiiie!!”
      A few moments later:
Pilot: “We will shortly be arriving in Milan, local time 2:30…”

      1. Life goes on but people are allowed to be disgruntled about how the mercato and actions of the ownership has gone down so far. They still have time to improve the squad but seriously at this point of time fans really doesnt have to show any trust towards cardinale, on the contrary he deserves our mistrust as things stands.

        1. Fine – I take that because you’re one of the few on your side of the argument who’s at least civil. On the other hand I’ve got Bartho asking what drugs I’m on, Martin calling me a chicken legged coward and Juro a racist piece of trash 🤣🤣🤣. It’s like being on a freaking playground.

          1. I replied earlier but it hasnt been posted yet so ill make it short i think both sides affects it negatively at times but no malice from me towards you even though i got angry at some point as i misread a comment from you to the other martin as one for me, i apologized though afterwards, I also corrected juro that i never had read a racists comment from you and i know you have posted on various sites over the years. Sometimes discusions might get a bit heated and people says something dumb but generally i have no ill will towards people here as long we tries to stick to the truth whatever that might be,

          2. Because you are a coward that loves to make up something to sound better. You did it up here again, in the other commment. You did it a few days ago, you did it weeks ago and probably our whole life. I don’t appreciate liars, so that is how I treat them. Cheers!

          3. Well when you say racist things – guess what – you are a racist buddy lol. Educate yourself for your own sake. My guess is your a young lad who has a lot to learn in life. Pls become more cultured – that will lead to more respect of others. Nothing wrong with differing viewpoints over transfers and the like, but have to draw the line when you make statements like you have. Not good for you or anyone mate.

          4. @Martin – if someone like @dejan10 calls a person of Japanese descent a “j@p” – that is a derogatory and racist term. No different that calling a black person the “n-word” or a Jewish person a “ki$€”. All are abhorrent terms that civilized people don’t say any longer – unless of course your a racist piece of trash. So hence me calling @dejan10 a racist piece of trash. All he had to do was apologize for offending people if he (as hard as it would be to believe) didn’t know what the term meant. But nah, he just went on and on. Shameful.

So – Respectfully just because you didn’t see it doesn’t mean it didn’t happen.

So that is why I called him what he in fact is. A racist piece of trash.

          5. never seen a comment like that from him but i think ill leave it between you then. Either way if people are racists being called a racist shouldnt even matter. ive known all sorts of people neo nazis, far rights even known all shabab people, for what i care people can have their views as much as they want as long they doesnt hurt or harasss other people i really dont care. Personally im pretty left wing but still i can handle people of different believes,

      2. It depends. If the pilot is Cardinale, then yes, I’d panic even before takeoff.

And Tonali speaking to Newcastle before approaching the club is another made up story from your imagination. Go and read reports again. Here’s the timeline:

        1. They came to Milan asking for Tonali – the report says Barella interest was only a smokescreen. There was also approach from Liverpool and Chelsea at the time and they saw opportunity as Milan were open to negotiate.

        2. The club then informed Tonali’s agent about approach – that was the lunch his agent had with Furlani where he also said they discussed Fratessi. The offer was then presented to Tonali by his agent.

        3. After Tonali’s agreement for transfer, they came forward with formal offer for him to Furlani.

        1. And where did you get this from? Put “Football Kush” in YouTube and one his recent videos explains it all. And besides how did we still sell him if he didn’t want to leave. He could’ve said no.

          1. So some youtube dude who calls himself Football Kush or whatever is more reliable than first hand statement from Giuseppe Riso the agent of Tonali? Riso said in an interveiw it was not easy to explain Tonali about Newcastle project and in the end Tonali understood the sale was best for Milan too. There’s nothing more to add.

          2. @ted no…..as I said in another post he discusses The Athletic article – a reliable source. And still no one can explain how we sold Tonali without him agreeing to it….

          3. My brother, you need to stop with this attitude of your opinion is the only one that matters. You did it on rossoneri blog and now you are doing it here. Sports is about conversation. Cardinale was wrong in how he handled matters. He could not even walk on the pitch to congratulate the man on you profile pic. We do not want Milan to fail, however we want Cardinale to learn the culture of soccer and AC Milan.

      3. Remember people here took an obscure article by a random French magazine who wrote how Redbird will destroy Milan as facts, as if they spent 1.2b to buy the club to make a billion dollar loss LOL

    1. Most people here dont realize that were under UEFAs settlement agreement and that we literally CANNOT spend the money most of you wish. It HAS to be like this until 25/26.

  4. I’ll give Cardinale the benefit of the doubt.
I like what I’m hearing. Now you gotta prove it. Build a strong Milan

  5. Foff you sob. Yeah you can call me Cardinale’s hater or Maldini’s fanboy or whatever. Right now, I have no reason to like him. I am a AC Milan Tifosi, and I don’t have to be a fan of Ricardo Oliveira and Vikash Dhorasoo to be a Milan Fan. That also applied to him.

    1. Lol half of the ppl here probably don’t in know who Dhorasso is
And I liked him, just wrong timing. We had a stacked sqaud already. Kinda Like when we got Vogel too, I was wondering ummm so where’s he going to play
      Oh the days, sigh

    2. Hahahahahaha!!!!! A fkn Vikash Dhorasoo reference!! LOLOLOLO Epic! I though I had a good one with Valter Birsa – but Dhorasoo takes the cake! Well done @Jaan Cuk LOL.

I agree with your point. Just because we support the team doesn’t mean you have to blindly follow ownership in every move they make. I too hated Berlusconi during the Banter Era and didn’t blindly support the clubs every move. Doing that doesn’t make you a fan it makes you a sheep that accepts mediocrity or worse.

Owners are nothing more than STEWARDS of the club. They will come and go but the one thing that is constant is the fans. It’s our job to hold them Accountable as best we can and be vocal when they don’t live up to the standards or history of the club. Gerry is no different. He has to PROVE himself to the fans he wants to win through actions NOT words. SO FAR he has NOT done so and until he does we are right to criticize. Nobody gets a pass. Trust is EARNED and he has not earned the trust of the fans just yet esp after what has transpired over the last month and over the last year. So ya we will see what happens, but in the interim the pressure should and will be on him. We are not Cremonese. We are Milan.

  6. If you want to win in everything then you must put money in the squad that’s how the today’s market is working. Not spending crazy amount but provide money to close the gaps

      1. We’ll constantly sell our stars that remain with this model and hope that we can make a profit on their cheap replacements. Difficult to win doing it that way.

        1. Did you see other italian club ? Is this your first time see italian club selling stars? Wake up dude ,every season AC Milan neighbour IM sell not only one but 2-3 player. Napoli before scudetto sell fabian ruiz, koulibali & after scudetto sell kim min jae also prepared asking price for osimhem & kvara. Juve want to sell dusan & chiesa also already sell kulu 30m euro . Italian club need to sell player for fund transfer budget, stop dreaming italian club are rich club. You want increase transfer budget??? Then start increase club income . If you want owner use their own money inject to club , then i will say no more and leave this conversation because that show you dont know about FFP role

      2. Maybe because clubs can only win championships with huge transfer budgets? Like Chelsea did last year? Or PSG has done with UCL? Oh right, my mistake…

        1. BB I really dont think any of the fans here are expecting chelsea or psg sized transfer kits, if they do though then they are naive.

          1. Read this nahnah comment, he wishing all key player not extend their contract and leave . Also he want AC Milan spend money more than everyone like manc city do . Also calling BB idiot

          2. “BB I really dont think any of the fans here are expecting chelsea or psg sized transfer kits, if they do though then they are naive.”

Some people here seem to think that the only way to win trophies is spending money. Lots of it. It’s not “how much” you spend but “HOW” you spend it.

          3. Reccamn – Well at least not regular commenters are demanding such trasfer kits, as i said further down if people expects kits like that they are naive to expect that to be fair.

BB – In my view there has to be some financial improvement considering our cl succes last season + playing for a full stadium all season + improved advertisement deals but 70 should do it in my book but overall i agree with that sentiment of yours.

        2. Well Manchester City spend more money than everyone and won both those competitions last year idiot.
You can’t seriously think we can win using this model? They just want a top 4 finish each year to get the champions league money.
Maignan will not extend now Maldini is gone so will leave next summer. Why would Theo or Leao want to hang around? The answer is they won’t. Their replacements will not be on their level.

          1. Yeah because good players join Milan to have a chance to talk to the great Maldini, nothing else matters in Milan, just Maldini

and if you are comparing UAE clubs to legitimate ones like Milan then lmao, why do you want Milan to sell its soul just to sign a couple of players? Spending 2 billion euros that they didnt earn to win one measly champions league means nothing

          2. “Well Manchester City spend more money than everyone and won both those competitions last year idiot.”

LOL. That name-calling thing came pretty quickly this time. You must be the first one to start yelling idiot after just one comment. Says more about you than the person you’re calling names. 🙂

You do know that ManCity is being investigated for their money-laundering things from the last 1,5 decades? And did you btw notice I didn’t mention ManCity in my comment so why attack me for something I didn’t say? Oh, I forgot. Because you couldn’t counter my claims with valid arguments and had to opt for option B = start calling others idiots and pretend they said something they didn’t.

“Maignan will not extend now Maldini is gone so will leave next summer. Why would Theo or Leao want to hang around? The answer is they won’t.”

LOL. Sure. They all came to Milan to hang around with Maldini and now that he’s gone, everyone wants out and no-one wants to join the club anymore. Ever. Right. I bet you are 100% right. 😀 😀 😀 😀

        3. No but only with sustainable longterm project planing and building that require strong foundations. Our foundations are weaken season in season out and we have to rebuild everytime on weaker basis. That.

Right now pattern shows we will be selling, if not every season, then every second season definitely.

        4. Of course there is @bb with another brilliant comment LOL 😝 . Ya nobody wants to be Chelsea or PSG who have won more trophies in the past 10 years than we have and consistently sign the best players and make UCL each season. Ya who would want that. OH ya let’s pick this past season for Chelsea as an outlier and use that statistic to bolster a weak and stupid argument cause you know they didn’t go under a massive “forced” ownership change or anything like that and I mean they haven’t signed any young excellent talent and aren’t clearing out older players on huge salaries and aren’t building a powerhouse team for the future. Ya nobody would want to be in Chelsea’s position with an owner (American at that) that is willing to spend to build a winner and has a massive revenue stream year after year and are profitable almost each season.?????? Ya who would want that eh @bb???? LMAO!!!!🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪 YOU are a MASSIVE MORON. Think we should still sell Leao for 40M donkey??? Hahahahahahahahaha!!!

  7. Actually he is right. He does want to win everything lol But his definition of winning and Milan’s definition of winning aint the same. Tapeworm wins when he sells players for ‘big money’. He ain’t talking about UCL/Serie A. lol Tapeworm already won before the season even began in case you guys haven’t noticed yet. And he wants to win more. Lol Winners like our tapeworm are rarely satisfied. I think there’s more to win for him.. Theo, Mike and Leao. REAL BIG WINS waiting for him to just get the victory. lmfao As for Milan.. well, we have… Pulisic… ! He will save us ALL.. I hope at least. lol

  8. Big B.S by Cardinale. Big B.S. You can’t win by numbers. Champions are forged in the field. You need champions on and off the field to build winning mentality.

O yeah keep saying nobody is bigger than the club. Stupid phrase. A club as big as Milan not just a corporate. Milan has Long line history of WINNING.

The past guide the future, like Maldini did. We lost true blood of Milan who knows how to win, knows how to build a winning team, knows how to forged winning mentality.

We love Baresi but he’s just a puppet like Zanetti in Merdazzuri. Go ahead keep dreaming the american dreams with Cardinale. After mid season, I bet U’ll notice how important Maldini to Milan is. Not like any legends.

Bayern can stay on top FOR YEARS thanks to their legends who’s running the club.
