CorSport: Cardinale attempts to reassure Pioli and fans – “I want to win in everything”

Gerry Cardinale sent a message to AC Milan head coach Stefano Pioli yesterday in which he attempted to reassure everyone that his ambitions are very high.

This morning’s edition of Corriere dello Sport (via PianetaMilan) recalls how Pioli mentioned during his press conference on the first day of preseason yesterday that he had spoken with Cardinale earlier in the day.

Pioli explained how Cardinale had wished him good luck, and the paper relayed the message sent by the RedBird founder: “Count on me and my team; we’re counting on you, our players and the support of our fantastic fans.”

Cardinale also wanted to reassure the Milan fans, who are still a little baffled by the sale of Sandro Tonali to Newcastle as well as the sackings of Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara too, wondering which direction the project is going.

Part of Cardinale’s message stressed his ambition: “I am working tirelessly to make sure that you are equipped for success. I want to win in everything and we can’t do it without a project to build on.”

Now, it is time for those words to be put into action with further investment in the transfer window to plug the obvious holes in the squad.
