CorSport: Cardinale wants Ibrahimovic to have a role at Milan and Pioli approves

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan owner Gerry Cardinale really is thinking about the idea of bringing Zlatan Ibrahimovic back to the club, according to a report.

The double sacking of Ricky Massara and Paolo Maldini by Carinale took away some certainties from the Rossoneri fans who in the space of a few days had to say goodbye to three key figures from their recent past, given Ibrahimovic’s retirement.

According to Corriere dello Sport (via however, Cardinale’s intention would appear to be to bring the Swede back to the club by offering him a role close to the team, as a sort of go-between for the squad and the management.

This is a move that has also been given approval by Stefano Pioli, who has repeatedly mentioned the importance of the mere presence of Zlatan in the dressing room.

However, the idea is perhaps not really appealing to Ibrahimovic himself who – according to what Scaroni said in the morning – seems oriented towards taking a sabbatical period.

  1. If Zlatan accepts to be part of this new project, that would make Maldini look even worse.
That would mean that Maldini really was the problem.
There is no more ambitious person in football than Zlatan.
So if he does accept this job it would mean that he believes in the ambition of the project and he is on board with it. Because Zlatan isn’t just going to accept any job from the million offers he has in all kinds of different walks of life. He can pick and chose

  2. Pioli has to agree when it was Ibrahimovic and not him that won the title for Milan. The only real leader there. I doubt he will accept this, at any club ever.

  3. the problem was not paolo but pioli, the scudetto was very very lucky. the true milan form under pioli was last season, that was the result of medioker manager…. go find world class manager, pioli not good enough to handle milan

    1. Lol ‘lucky’

Why dumb mf’s like you can’t accept that the scudetto was a result of hardworks from Pioli, players, and the management?!

  4. Lol bullcrap story.

Ibra is just as ambitious and no barrels hold as Maldini who wants Milan win and sit at the top. And if Maldini who wants Cardinale to spend money to get high quality players got sacked then Ibra will be no different.

Beside, i doubt Ibra wants to take Maldini job after what Cardinale did to Maldini.

  5. This club needs Zlatan and I hope he signs for us. Everyone with an iota of sense knows it was Zlatan’s inspiration who got us teh scudetto. Without Zlatan Pioli won’t even make it to the top 7 with the very team that won us the scudetto.
