CorSport: Departures will begin Milan’s summer overhaul – the list of possible exits

By Oliver Fisher -

The AC Milan squad will undergo an overhaul this summer with as many as 10 players on the list of those who can leave, a report claims.

The Rossoneri management have a lot of work to do after a season in which the squad depth was shown to not be up to par. Today’s edition of Corriere dello Sport (via PianetaMilan) takes stock of the players who could leave Milan in the next window.

Divock Origi could leave after one season given his disappointing performances and the fact he arrived on a free to any sale would be a pure capital gain. Galatasaray are interested, while in England the Belgian is liked by West Ham, but his high salary could slow down the negotiations.

Timouè Bakayoko will leave to return to Chelsea once his loan deal expires, just as Sergino Dest will head back to Barcelona. Aster Vranckx could be bought from Wolfsburg for €12m, but it seems unlikely and Milan are reportedly working on a new loan deal.

Yacine Adli is also expected to leave in order to look for more playing time while there are also reflections on the future of Fode Ballo-Tourè and Junior Messias, who could be sold.

  1. Not because we would like to see an overhaul means that there is going to be one. I highly doubt as many players are going to leave as these articles are mentioning

  2. The real problem this summer is not who we sign or how much we spend.
The real problem is how do you get rid of so much dead wood on big contracts that nobody wants?

    Tata
    Mirante
    Ballo Toure
    Florenzi
    Dest
    Pobega
    Bakayoko
    Messias
    Rebic
    Origi
    Zlatan
    Vranxc
These players need to leave as first priority

    with the possibility of
    Gabbia
    Diaz
    CDK
    Adli
    also leaving

Thats a huge turnover that is required

I count 14 senior squad players who should be kept.

So out of 30 senior players we have 12 who must be moved on, 4 that are up for consideration and 14 who should stay.

If we aim for a 25 man squad, we can promote 2 or 3 Primavera players, we still need at least 6 or 7 good signings.

    1. Some of those names you said will be leaving be after the season is over they are on loan to Milan from other clubs so expect more than half the team will be leaving including those whose contract ends this season!!!!

    2. Pobega and Gabbia definitely should stay as a backup/rotation option, plus we need them for European competition home grown quota.

Messias, Ballo Toure and Dest should stay as backups because spending money to get backup quality players is nonsensical at this point. And bring back Daniel Maldini to cover for Leao.

If Diaz leaves (for Real to exchange him with Bellingham), then CDK should stay, not to mentioned we spent 32m for him and him leaving after just 1 season will hit hard on FFP. Maybe retrain him to cover for Bennacer.

Also, I’d argue Zlatan should stay if Milan Lab are convinced he could stay fit (not out for 6 months at the start of the season like last time) AND reduce his salary to the squad median.

To buy list: 1 starter quality right winger (Asensio?), 1 Kessie quality defensive midfielder, and 1 striker to deputize for Giroud if Zlatan leaves.

  3. Those with expiring contracts and loans are a given. Origi, Rebic, Ballo-Toure will be sold. Messias will stay as a squad player. It would be a shame if Adli leaves. Maybe he wasn’t ready before, but recently he looks better than most of our players when he comes on.

  4. They can’t sell Messias before they find much better replacement. Junior is already 2 years in team, he scored some goals and his did very good job in defence department. Not to mention, Junior play for one of lowest salary in the team.

  5. Contract Expire : Tata,Mirante,Ibra
    End of loan : Bakayoko,Dest,Aster prank,Brahim
7 player already 100% leave. That will make busy summer market for AC Milan . I dont know if AC Milan can sell this deadwood in bench warmer: Rebic,Origi,Ballo toure,Junior. Selling this 4 will be hard due to their bad performance this season. For florenzi & kjaer AC Milan must wait until their contract expire ,Renew both of that player will blocking regeneration on RB & CB position , not recomended renew florenzi that get 3m euro nett till his contract expire in 2025 due to his injury prone. Lets hope this overhaul success with priority selling 4 player like Origoat,Rebic,Junior & BalloToure

    1. Be fair. Messias Junior is a squad player. For this capacity he’s been doing a very good job.
Florenzi was brought to fulfill the italian quota that’s why they weren’t bother signed him with his injury history. Kjaer still needed for his leadership because Ibra will leave.
If anyone should’ve learned the lesson about overhauling, it is Milan, because our transfer history with Yonghong Li.
No team will be steady with as much departures people mentioned in this forum, and to raise the quality at the same time would take a lot of money that we know Milan don’t have.
Be realistic. If you want instant result, i suggest go cheer for Manchester City or Real

      1. Junior messias is squad player? Do you even watch AC Milan match ? When he is infront ,he dont care about team mate just shoot . He is not AC Milan standard just serie B material .i dont say we must sell kjaer & florenzi ,read slowly ,i say we must wait until florenzj & kjaer contract expire. It is not me want overhaul but 7 player 100% leave , so what do you want to do ? You suggest we dont need to replace that player? Im thanking your suggestion asking me support manc city ,but i already support AC Milan since child in 1990 , maybe you still not born in that time .. if we follow your idea just stay idle, we will ruin to serie B using player like origoat,Rebic,Junior,Ballo toure
